‘Little Mosque’ stars stretch wings for TV adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’
“Zaib Shaikh, who plays the affable and occasionally rattled imam on Little Mosque on the Prairie, was itching to do something darker during a break from shooting the popular CBC comedy late last year. He found himself pondering a television adaptation of Othello: The Tragedy of the Moor with his Little Mosque co-star, Carlo Rota, in the title role. Rota, too, was keen to ‘stretch his wings.'” Read more.

“Production in town has picked up considerably, and for a change it’s almost entirely our own. … CTV’s Flashpoint and The Listener are out there, fighting crime in the streets of Toronto â€“ which is, at long last, actually Toronto, and not some generic American city, which will no doubt confuse the hell out of the Americans who will be watching. “Westwind Pictures, the producers of CBC’s “Little Mosque on the Prairie,” announced a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Studios, which aims to get an Americanized version of the show on the Fox network. The deal also involves another Westwind Pictures show currently in development; Fox will help Westwind develop the show and then determine if it wants to buy it.” Read more.
