Ron James’ New Year’s Special airs January 1 on CBC

Ring in the New Year with Canada’s iconic funnyman, Ron James, as he returns to the airwaves for his annual New Year’s tradition of bringing laughter to Canadians.

THE RON JAMES SHOW: NEW YEAR’S EDITION airs Sunday, January 1 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT), on CBC Television, in an extended one hour version of James’ quick-witted comedy.

In his sixth annual New Year’s special, comedian Ron James puts 2011 to bed as only he can, then looks ahead to 2012, sincerely hoping the Mayans were just having a bad day at the temple when they made their famous doomsday prediction.

An Old West gunslinger in the middle of a bloody duel has to upgrade to the new model of gun before he can get the bullets he desperately requires; a Big Pharma huckster brings on the dancing girls to convince doctors his underwhelming new drug is a winner; class bully Bucky Lutley challenges L’il Ronnie to a chilling toboggan race down Dead Man’s Hill; and Ron pays tribute to Nanaimo, B.C. and finds out it isn’t just for dessert any more.

THE RON JAMES SHOW airs weekly on Friday nights at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC-TV, culminating in a one-hour special on New Year’s Day.
