While waiting for Wendy Crewson to phone in I tried to think of all the times I’d ever interviewed her.

I’d seen her from afar on the set of Mazes And Monsters, a 1982 Toronto made TV movie where I was interviewing the lovely Anne Francis about her autobiography.

Others in that cast included Vera Miles, Chris Makepeace, Chris Wiggins and, oh, yeah, the star Tom Hanks as a twentysomething prankster. Continue reading.

Season 2 of When Calls the Heart headed to Super Channel

Following a highly successful first season run, “When Calls the Heart” returns to B.C. to film its second season (to air in Canada on Super Channel), proving that audiences are craving and embracing heartwarming, family-oriented drama.

“When Calls the Heart” is based on Janette Oke’s bestselling Canadian book series which chronicles the story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Army Wives’ Erin Krakow), a young teacher who is uprooted from her high society life, and unto a classroom post in a 1910s coal town in the Western Frontier. There, she encounters not only the harsh climate and restless students, but also the town’s new Constable, the handsome Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) in his Red Serge uniform. The show also stars Lori Loughlin (“Full House”, “90210”) as Abigail Stanton, the resilient and adventurous coal miner’s widow.

The series is produced by Canadians Vicki Sotheran and Greg Malcolm, and exec produced by Brad Krevoy, Brian Bird, Michael Landon Jr., Michael Shepard, and Eric Jarboe. Second Season writers include Tony Blake (co-showrunner), Robin Bernheim (co-showrunner), Neal Dobrofsky, Tippi Dobrofsky, Andrea Stevens, and Derek Thompson. Directors are Emmy-nominee Neill Fearnley (also co-executive producer), Michael Rohl, and Martin Wood.
