  • SAVING HOPE heads into season finale as Canada’s #1 new summer series with average audience of 1.7 million viewers

Last night’s monumental episode of SAVING HOPE concluded with Charlie (Michael Shanks) suddenly waking up from a season-long coma and calling out for his fiancée Alex (Erica Durance). Now, the couple must confront life-changing questions in the stunning season finale, Thursday, Sept. 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, leaving viewers with an unexpected twist. The episode airs again on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).   

Following its television broadcast, viewers can catch up on full episodes of SAVING HOPE across CTV’s digital platforms on CTV.ca, the CTV App, the CTV Mobile channel and through video on demand partners. 

SAVING HOPE debuted in June following an extensive national promotional and publicity campaign, resulting in widespread buzz and critical acclaim. Since then, the prognosis has been glowing. Heading into next week’s season ender, SAVING HOPE continues to rank as Canada’s #1 new summer series, #1 summer drama, and Top 5 summer series overall, with a season-to-date average of 1.7 million viewers. Online, SAVING HOPE has seen more than two million video views, making it one of the most viewed shows on CTV.ca this summer. In July, CTV announced a 13-episode second season order for the hit drama from ICF Films/Entertainment One. 

In the season finale, entitled “Pink Clouds” (Sept. 13), Charlie, out of coma, goes into full recovery mode, undertaking physiotherapy training to learn how to walk again. Charlie presses on as questions surrounding his relationship with Alex surface. With the same determination that once made her Chief Surgical Resident, Alex takes charge of the situation – pressing onward. But while charting the course of her own life, she is faced with the grim task of telling a bride-to-be that she is going to die. Meanwhile, Joel (Daniel Gillies) is also tasked with making difficult decisions when a young man is brought in with a heroin overdose. While examining track marks on the patient’s arms, Joel and Maggie (Julia Taylor Ross) make a shocking discovery: the patient has necrotizing fasciitis – flesh-eating disease. They rush him into the O.R. where Joel prepares to amputate above the infection, but the disease is advancing faster than he’s ever seen. Incision after incision, Joel chases the bacteria up the arm but he can’t find a clean margin. Under extreme pressure, Joel must improvise if he is going to save this young man’s life.

ABOUT TIGA TALK!

Targeted at children aged 3-5, Tiga Talk! is a gentle, entertaining series that explores languages and culture in a fun way. It’s about Tiga, a stuffed toy wolf cub who lives with Jodie and Jason, their father, and Kokum (grandmother). Tiga lives in a backyard den the children made for him, and together, they share a secret. When there aren’t any adults around, Tiga becomes a talking puppet who plays with Jodie, Jason, and children in the audience. Production starts on Rookie Blue season 4

GLOBAL’S ORIGINAL DRAMA ROOKIE BLUE STARTS PRODUCTION ON SEASON 4

  • New Season to Premiere on Global and ABC in 2013 as 15 Division Welcomes Two New Members

Principal photography has begun on the fourth season of Global’s hit Canadian original series Rookie Blue. Currently filming in Toronto, the upcoming season deals with changes at 15 Division. Following the death of Detective Jerry Barber in Season 3, the rookies will have to continue adapting to change and face it head on. The hugely anticipated Season 3 finale, which airs tonight – 10pm ET/PT, will have fans on the edge of their seats. 

“Rookie Blue is Global’s biggest TV success story to date, and we are ecstatic to have season 4 now in the works,” said Barb Williams, SVP, Content, Shaw Media. “The first three seasons of Rookie Blue have kept audiences tuning in week after week, and for that we owe a debt of gratitude to the incredible production team. With the addition of new characters and developing storylines for our favourite rookies, there is a lot more to tell, and we’re so excited to see where this new season will take us.”  

New and old romantic ties come to light as new rookie recruits Chloe Price (Priscilla Faia – True Justice) and Senior Uniformed Officer Marlo Cruz (Rachel Ancheril – The Listener) join the team. Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym), Dov Epstein (Gregory Smith), Chris Diaz (Travis Milne), Traci Nash (Enuka Okuma), Gail Peck (Charlotte Sullivan) and Nick Collins (Peter Mooney) all return for Season 4. 

“We’re thrilled to be starting production on season 4,” said Tassie Cameron, Executive Producer and Showrunner. “We’re making some bold choices this year.  We’re adding some exciting new characters into the mix, and putting our young officers into new situations, so that we can watch them continue to grow and change – both personally and on the job.” 

Currently, Rookie Blue is the *most watched program in its timeslot since its return on May 24 – with over 1.6 million loyal fans tuning in for the Season 3 debut episode. South of the border on ABC, Rookie Blue ranks #1 Thursday nights in the 10pm hour in Total Viewers this summer. Rookie Blue is also broadcast internationally on Universal Networks International’s pay-TV channels. Alex (Erica Durance) and Shahir (Huse Madhavji) bring Charlie (Michael Shanks) to the O.R. for a dangerous experimental procedure. Charlie must first face his past before he can wake up. Meanwhile, Gavin (Kristopher Turner) gets too close to a patient and offers his personal phone number. But when he gets called over to their house after a domestic dispute, Gavin finds that he may have let himself get too close to a patient.(Encore episode airs Saturday, Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV)
