Interview: Erin Karpluk of Being Erica on South African debut

erica1.jpgFrom Anisa Ussuph of East Coast Radio (South Africa):

  • What if you could go back in time?
“I’m shocked and excited by how many countries will be watching the show. What is surprising to me is the demographic of people who watch. I have men in their 40’s & 50’s coming up to me to talk about how much they relate to the show. My guess is that the theme of the show, ‘regrets’ is universal, regardless of your age, gender, class, race…any human could relate to the mistakes that Erica has made. It is such a gift as an actor to be part of a story that people identify with. I hope it is received well in South Africa because I’d love to come and visit!” Read more.

Review: The Conventioneers on Bite TV

From Cameron Archer of URBMN:

  • TV Review: The Conventioneers 4.1 – “Job Fair”
“The Conventioneers tries to make The National Job Fair & Training Expo in Toronto interesting, with marginal success.  While Matt Chin and Jason Agnew aren’t bad hosts, the humour is at times forced.  This might be due to the choice of venue, since it’s The National Job Fair & Training Expo.Such buttoned-down affairs aren’t normally the place for weirdos – not the obvious kinds, anyway.” Read more.

Audio: Battle of the Blades profile on NPR

From NPR (US National Public Radio):

  • Battle of the Blades Draws Huge Audience in Canada
“One of the most popular TV shows on Canadian public television pairs figure skaters and hockey players in a weekly ice dance-off. Only one Canadian program — Little Mosque on the Prairie — has debuted with more viewers than the CBC’s Battle of the Blades. The show says it’s been getting calls from producers in the U.S., Russia and Czech Republic who want to copy the show.” Listen here.
