So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s Top 20 Revealed on CTV, Oct. 1

The cross-country auditions are done. Now, the Top 200 have traded in their flight passes and are ready to “kill it” for So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s first-ever “Finals Week” episode, airing Wednesday, October 1 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV. An encore airs Sunday, October 5 at 9 p.m. ET on MuchMusic (go to ctv.ca and muchmusic.com to confirm local broadcast times). In the two-hour “Finals Week” episode, competitors face four gruelling days of competition, and their toughest challenges yet, as they dance their hearts out for a coveted position in So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s inaugural Top 20.

The show is an international franchise, of course, with a set format: judges, dancers, voting. Could a Canadian version be better than the usual thing? Yep. There were some astonishing moves, manoeuvres, turns and locomotions going on at the first audition shows, taped in Toronna, Vancouver and Halifax.” Read more.

Following on the heels of its impressive, No. 1 debut last Thursday, So You Think You Can Dance Canada once again danced away as the No. 1 show Sunday night, as 1.23 million tuned in at 8 p.m. for the second episode of Canada’s newest homegrown hit.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada continues, with audition highlights from Montreal and Calgary, Wednesday, September 17 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV. Encore presentations of audition episodes air on MuchMusic Sundays at 9 p.m. ET. The cross-country search for Canada’s favourite dancer continues at the Vancouver and Halifax auditions. Permanent judge Jean Marc Genereux, special guest judge Mary Murphy and guest judge Paul Becker, who has choreographed the Jonas Brothers, weigh in on the dancing hopefuls in Vancouver. Tre Armstrong, Melissa Williams – who has choreographed for Prince and Bryan Adams – and judge/choreographer Dan Karaty, from the U.S. series, fill out the panel in Halifax.
