Following the announcement that Corner Gas will conclude following the broadcast of its sixth season, Prairie Pants Productions released the following milestones in the history of the series:

  • June 3, 2003 – Production begins on Season 1 of Corner Gas
  • January 22, 2004 – 1.15 million viewers tune in to the Corner Gas series premiere, “Ruby Reborn.”
  • March 21, 2004 – Brent Butt’s eight-city “Gassed Up” comedy tour kicks off in Vancouver.
  • April 29, 2004 – Corner Gas fans from Quebec win land in Saskatchewan in a CornerGas.com contest and move to the province to retire.
  • September 27, 2004 – Brent Butt embarks on a six-city, $70,000 “Great Canadian Gas Giveaway Tour” in support of the launch of Season 2.
  • October 4, 2004 – Corner Gas is nominated for an International Emmy Award
  • October 5, 2004 – 1.53 million viewers tune into Season 2 premiere
  • October 19, 2004 – Season 1 released on DVD
  • October 26, 2004- Corner Gas Season 1 nominated for 5 Gemini Awards
  • December 10, 2004 -The Dog River Clothing Company is launched online at cornergas.com
  • September 19, 2005 – Season 3 premieres
  • September 21, 2005 – CTV presents Corner Gas Live! a six-city Canadian stand-up tour starring Brent Butt
  • September 24, 2005 – The original documentary BEYOND CORNER GAS: Tales from Dog River premieres on CTV
  • September 27, 2005 – Season 2 released on DVD
  • September 29, 2005 – World’s first online stand-up competition, “Comic Genius”, debuts on cornergas.com
  • October 1, 2005 – Finland becomes the first of 26 countries around the world to purchase the show for broadcast outside of Canada
  • October 31, 2005 – Prime Minister Paul Martin makes cameo appearance on Corner Gas, attracting a record audience of 2.2 million viewers. He is one of many Canadian personalities who go on to appear in the show, including Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, Pamela Wallin, Darryl Sittler and Travis Moen, Colin James, Jann Arden and The Tragically Hip and Lloyd Robertson and Ben Mulroney.
  • November 19, 2005 – Corner Gas wins two Gemini Awards: Best Comedy Program or Series and Best Interactive for www.cornergas.com
  • December 7, 2005 – Brent Butt releases his first radio single, “Christmas in Dog River.”
  • December 12, 2005 – “Merry Gasmas,” a Corner Gas holiday special, attracts record-setting audience of 2.43 million viewers – the half-hour episode was watched in some part by almost 3 million viewers.
  • February 11, 2006 – Corner Gas Comic Genius Showdown, an hour-long comedy special, premieres live on The Comedy Network
  • March 20, 2006 – 50th episode of Corner Gas premieres on CTV, and attracts the 50th consecutive million-plus audience
  • May 23, 2006 – CTV signs with Multi-Platform Distribution Company (MPDC) to market Corner Gas in the United States
  • June 5, 2006 – Corner Gas becomes available on demand on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca
  • September 18, 2006 -Eight radio stations from across the country broadcast live from the set as Corner Gas launches its fourth season.
  • October 3, 2006 – Season 3 released on DVD
  • November 4, 2006 – Tales from Dog River: The Complete Corner Gas Guide released and becomes a best-selling book across Canada
  • November 4, 2006 – Corner Gas wins its second Gemini Award for Best Comedy Program or Series
  • November 24, 2006 – Corner Gas secures U.S. broadcast deal with Superstation WGN
  • March 12, 2007 – The season finale of Corner Gas Season 4 draws a season-high 2 million viewers for an episode that “appears” to be the series’ last.
  • September 17, 2007 – Corner Gas premieres on Superstation WGN in the United States
  • September 23, 2007 – Brent Butt throws opening pitch at Cubs vs. Pirates game in Chicago to promote Corner Gas in the U.S.
  • September 24, 2007 – Season Five premieres
  • October 28, 2007 – Corner Gas takes home three Gemini Awards including its third for “Best Comedy Series.”
  • December 12, 2007 – Corner Gas becomes available for purchase on iTunes
  • April 10, 2008 – Brent Butt announces that Corner Gas will end at the conclusion of Season Six in 2009
  • May 15, 2008 – Production begins on sixth and final season
