  1. I can’t say I’m really disappointed. Strange Empire was never the show I hoped it would be. “Dark and edgy” is never a real selling point for me. I loved the premise, the pilot was great and I really liked the characters of Kat Loving and Rebecca and Ling but I was hoping for more of a sweeping period drama full of adventure and romance.

    1. And that was not a story the creator of Durham County would have ever done. CBC knew what they were getting into – whether audiences did or not is another question. But the ratings make this not a surprise. The consolation is that other than the very end, it stands as a fairly self-contained story. Let’s call it a long mini-series.
