From a media release:
A NEW WAVE OF BIOLOGICAL THREATS MARK THE FOURTH AND FINAL SEASON OF REGENESIS
The award-winning bio-thriller takes its final bow beginning Sunday, March 2 at 8 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. PT
Astral Media’s The Movie Network (eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (western Canada) present the final 13 episodes of the Gemini award-winning Canadian original drama series ReGenesis, premiering Sunday, March 2 at 8 p.m. ET on The Movie Network and 9 p.m. PT on Movie Central.
ReGenesis continues to follow a team of scientists, virologists and researchers who work together at the fictional NorBAC (North American Biotechnology Advisory Commission) lab, facing the baffling and often lethal global consequences of advanced biotechnology. In the premiere episode of season four, Bob (Dmitry Chepovetsky) is put into a medically-induced coma to reduce the risk of infection resulting from the brain surgery he underwent at the end of season three; David (Peter Outerbridge) and Carlos (Conrad Pla) investigate a drug-resistant strain of tuberculosis that’s killing Mexico’s Zapatista revolutionaries; and Rachel (Wendy Crewson) and Mayko (Mayko Nguyen) travel to a farming community where citizens are suffering horrific injuries due to an inability to feel pain.
This new season will also feature storylines that follow such perilous cases as a mysterious outbreak consuming human brains; a high incidence of congestive heart failures triggered by a newly-marketed immunosuppressant drug; and a series of murderous crow attacks that threaten to shut down the entire eastern seaboard.
Returning to the series this season are Victor Garber as the misguided scientist Olivier Roth and Geraint Wyn Davies as pharmaceutical czar Carleton Riddlemeyer. Joining the ReGenesis cast for season four are Karen LeBlanc as Dr. Enuka Okimba, a new addition to the NorBAC team and Rosa Laborde as Nina Corba, a new love interest for Bob.
“To date, ReGenesis has produced 39 thrilling episodes over three seasons, garnered six Gemini awards and reached audiences in over 115 countries worldwide, including syndication in the United States — a clear indication of a home-grown success story,†said Michelle Marion, Director, Canadian Independent Production, The Movie Network. “The Movie Network is extremely proud to have been part of bringing ReGenesis to life and looks forward to giving our subscribers another season of the gripping, contemporary storylines that viewers have come to connect with.â€
“ReGenesis has proved for three seasons that high-quality dramatic storytelling is a natural fit for Canadian pay television,†said Erica Benson, Vice President Programming, Movie Central. “The international success of the series further demonstrates that Canadian producers can deliver audiences around the world superior entertainment experiences.â€
ReGenesis will simulcast on The Movie Network and Movie Central’s high definition channels and will be accessible each week on-demand on The Movie Network OnDemand and Movie Central On Demand.
