Life with Derek wins Rocket Prize

SHAFTESBURY FILMS’ LIFE WITH DEREK WINS SHAW ROCKET PRIZE
 
Shaftesbury Films’ youth comedy series Life with Derek has won the prestigious Shaw Rocket Prize, it was announced last night at an industry event in Toronto. Life with Derek airs on Family in Canada.
 
Shaftesbury Films will divide the award’s $50,000 purse between the Canadian Film Centre, to be used on a kids’ TV writing and producing intern program; PREVNet (Promoting Relationships and Eliminating Violence Network), a coalition of Canadians concerned about bullying; and Life with Derek creator Daphne Ballon. Life with Derek is translated into 19 languages and airs in more than 115 countries worldwide, including the U.S. (Disney Channel), France, the U.K., Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand.

Life with Derek is a half-hour comedy series about a modern blended family , which has forced together two willful teenagers, Casey (Ashley Leggat) and Derek (Michael Seater), each used to being in charge and each determined to keep it that way. Caught in the middle, and changing sides depending on the issue or the size of the bribe, are Casey’s little sister Lizzie (Jordan Todosey), Derek’s little brother Edwin (Daniel Magder) and his little sister Marti (Ariel Waller).

  1. Life with derrek i s an awsome show. but it seems to me and my friends that we like it better with “max” on it so could he get back together with “Casey”. do it for your fellow viewers We miss “max”.

  2. One of the best all-time great teen shows…very intelligently made….never one bit boring…for everyone be it girls or boys…for any age…very smart and unique….very lovable.
