CBC TELEVISION SEARCHES FOR CANADA’S SUPER SPELLER BEGINNING MONDAY, SEPT. 14, AT 8 P.M.
- Evan Solomon to host five-day series
Premiering Monday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m., CBC Television presents CANADA’S SUPER SPELLERâ€â€a dynamic new take on the classic spelling bee. The five-episode series sees 12 finalists, who beat out hundreds of kids across the country, throw down their dictionaries and face off in an intense display of spelling prowess. Only four will make it to the final episode where they will battle it out for a grand prize and the ultimate title of CANADA’S SUPER SPELLER!
Hosted by CBC’s Evan Solomon (CBC News: Sunday), the entertaining and educational one-hour episodes will determine which contestant’s performance ultimately spells S-U-C-C-E-S-S! The winner will receive a $20,000 RESP courtesy of the Canadian Egg Marketing Agency and a prize package from Acadia University.
“Canada’s Super Speller is an exciting and entertaining event for the entire family to enjoy,†said Kirstine Stewart, CBC Television’s general manager, English Services. “This series offers a good challenge for both kids and adults to have fun with their words and test their literacy.â€Â
In March 2008, thousands of Canadian kids answered the Super Speller online challenge. From there, 400 qualified to take part in the local spelldowns that took place in 33 communities across the country. Only 48 spellers emerged to compete in the regional competitions. From this elite group, 12 extraordinary kids won the opportunity to travel to the Spell Dome at Acadia University, in Wolfville, N.S., to compete for the ultimate prize.

Do you have a repeated broadcast one more time for who missed ?
will the shows be repeated?
These kids are amazing. We like watching the parents to see their reactions and emotions. We love the set and the electronic character. Enjoy the segments for the viewing audience. Lots of fun. Acadia is a great setting for this competition.
