Durham County Season 2 nominated for Monte Carlo TV awards

DURHAM COUNTY – Season Two Nominated for three Monte Carlo Television Awards

The second season of the award-winning Canadian drama series, Durham County, has been nominated for three Monte Carlo Television Awards. Winners will be announced June 10th, 2010 in Monaco at the Festival’s prestigious Golden Nymph Award ceremony.

Durham County Season Two follows newly promoted homicide Detective Mike Sweeney (Hugh Dillon) as he struggles to keep his family together as they try to come to terms with the anguish left behind by a serial killer. The six-part thriller will be running against top rated shows, including Dexter, Lost and Mad Men in the category of Outstanding International Producer (Janis Lundman, Adrienne Mitchell, Michael Prupas, Laurie Finstad Knizhnik). Durham’s Hugh Dillon and Michelle Forbes (True Blood) are nominated for Outstanding Actor and Actress, respectively.

Presided over by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Monte Carlo Television Festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary this summer. An international jury representing all creative aspects of television will select the winners. Over the years many distinguished celebrities have sat on the successive juries, bringing international recognition to the best of television programming.

Durham County is written by Laurie Finstad-Knizhnik (Bliss) and helmed by directors Adrienne Mitchell (Bliss, Drop The Beat), Alain DesRochers (Nitro) and Rachel Talalay (Cra$h & Burn, Wind in the Willows). Michael Prupas (This is Wonderland) of Muse Entertainment and Janis Lundman and Adrienne Mitchell of Back Alley Films are executive producers. Season Three will air on The Movie Network and Movie Central this fall.
