SHAFTESBURY WRAPS PRODUCTION ON FIRST FACTUAL SERIES
- FROM SPAIN WITH LOVE: WITH ANNIE SIBONNEY FOR FOOD NETWORK CANADA & COOKING CHANNEL U.S.
Leading creator, producer and distributor Shaftesbury today announced that it has wrapped production on From Spain With Love: with Annie Sibonney, the first series from the company’s newly launched factual entertainment division. A 13 x half-hour food adventure series, From Spain With Love explores the diverse culinary culture of Spain through the eyes of passionate gastro-nomad and host Annie Sibonney. Filmed on location in Spain, the series will premiere on Food Network in Canada and Cooking Channel in the United States in May 2011, and will be offered to international buyers at MIPTV 2011.
Using food as a window into Spain and its many characters, From Spain With Love uncovers the rich contradictions of the country. From the food mecca of San Sebastian to the quaint fishing villages of Galicia, and from cosmopolitan Barcelona to the bustling excitement of Madrid, the series explores the deep-rooted connection between the land, the farmer, the fisherman, the ingredient, the home cook and the chef across Spain’s many regions. Sibonney visits the kitchens, fields and farms of Spain and works alongside both traditional cooks in simple kitchens and star chefs who are creating some of the world’s most innovative culinary techniques.
Born to French-Moroccan parents and raised in Toronto, Sibonney is a food writer and expert on Spanish regional and haute cuisine. Her mastery of five languages, including Spanish, has allowed her to immerse herself in some of the world’s richest gastronomic centers including Morocco, France, Egypt, Spain, Italy, Peru and Mexico.
Produced by Shaftesbury in association with Henry Less Productions, From Spain With Love is executive produced by Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie and Rachel Low for Shaftesbury and Henry Less for Henry Less Productions. The series was co-created by Annie Sibonney, Henry Less and Dale Burshtein, who also serves as producer.
