Poll: What is your favourite Canadian TV show of the 1990s?

The second series in the Great Canadian TV Playoff is complete and the Degrassi franchise completed a dominating win for favourite series of the 1980s.

Now it’s time for the next series: the 1990s.

Unlike the Stanley Cup playoffs, TV, Eh’s Great Canadian TV Playoff boasts solely homegrown head-to-head matchups of television shows. Through the rest of the month, we’ll pit eight television shows (just like the NHL) from the 1970s, 80s, 90s and 2000s against one another until the final showdown to name the top Canadian TV series of all time on May 29.

Cast your vote now and spread the word — the 2000s battle it out starting on Thursday.

  1. No 22 Minutes? That was my favourite because they hired me. 22 started in 1993 and unlike all the rest of your choices, has not left the air since. Also, although they didn’t hire me, Air Farce also had about 20 years on the air beginning in the 90s.

    1. It has been a really hard deciding which shows should and shouldn’t be included. I appreciate the feedback!

  2. I’m surprised there’s no E.N.G. on the list. As I clicked the link I was thinking, “Man it’s going to be tough to decide between Traders and E.N.G.” But it turned out I didn’t have to.

    1. E.N.G. was a late cut! Clearly I should have expanded this list to more than eight choices because it’s been really hard to decide what to include.

  3. I had a tough time deciding what I liked more–North of 60 or Road to Avonlea. Both are tied for my favourite Canadian show of all time. Both have been rerun on television in recent years and I rewatched them and they have stood the test of time. Ultimatley I chose Road to Avonlea but I don’t have a definitive reason why. Another 90s shows I really liked was The Odyssey,

  4. I’m not voting unless Da Vinci’s Inquest is on the list (so there! ;) ). Due South was cute but Da Vinci holds up. Traders? Meh. ENG, not bad.

  5. these 60s 70s 80s 90s polls have been amazing, 1st to be reminded just how many great shows Canada has done and have such a tough time choosing one’s top favourite, but all the more so when others comment ‘hey what about this one and that one and the other and the other’ – jeepers there were a LOT, eh.

thanks a bunch for the polls.

p.s. after much agonizing I couldn’t pick ’em all, I picked Traders
