Saving Hope, CTV – “Defense”
The doctors at Hope Zion Hospital are forced to deal with people from their past as Alex (Erica Durance), Charlie (Michael Shanks), and Joel (Daniel Gillies) take on the daunting task of operating on a malpractice lawyer known for suing every doctor in his path. Meanwhile, Zach (Benjamin Ayres) is tested when the last person he wants to treat comes into his E.R., and a patient from Season 1 returns with some difficult insight for Charlie and Alex.

Alex (Erica Durance) must learn to stick up for herself and not be intimidated by Dawn (Michelle Nolden) in order to work alongside her and perform a minimally invasive heart procedure to save a patient’s life. Meanwhile, Joel (Daniel Gillies) unlocks a mystery to a young girl’s disease, while getting some advice from Charlie (Michael Shanks), who is trying to figure out how to help his comatose patient come back from being a spirit.
Panic Button, Space – “Turn Out the Lights” season finale
In the season finale of Space original reality series PANIC BUTTON, five subjects face their deepest fears. Students Sabrina and Brian face their fear of germs and torture while Sal, a manager, is confronted with his fear of spiders. Restaurant manager Faith is challenged by her fear of being eaten alive, and civil litigator Cecilia tries to survive her terror of confinement. Will they make it to the end, or will they hit their panic button?
XIII, Showcase – “Battlezone” season finale
With the Chinese HEARPE weapon now fully operational, the safety of the world is at stake. XIII, Betty and Barnabis try to destroy HEARPE while XIII.2 attempts to unleash its destructive force – a terrifying array of natural disasters – on the United States. But only one man will triumph and only one man will survive. Making his last stand in the bunker, Carrington contemplates extreme measures.
The Chef’s Domain, Discovery World – series premiere
In the first episode, premiering on July 2 at 8 p.m. EST, Chef Jeremy Charles and sommelier Jeremy Bonia, owners of the award-winning restaurant Raymonds, raise the gastronomic bar in St. John’s, NL. To celebrate the restaurant’s two-year anniversary, the charming duo hunt for fresh game meat, hit the coastal waters for scallops and forage for mushrooms to create a blowout spread. Airing immediately after at 8:30 p.m., the second episode follows Okanagan Chefs Dana Ewart and Cameron Smith of Joy Road Catering as they throw a feast for the local growers and suppliers who have made their company a success. Undaunted by the challenge, the chefs source all but a few ingredients hailing from within a 25-mile radius.

Young and Female: SAVING HOPE Returns With 1.1 Million Viewers on CTV
CTV’s SAVING HOPE returned last night with a bang, literally. A public shooting thrust the doctors into Hope Zion Hospital and back into the hearts of fans, as SAVING HOPE delivered 1.1 million viewers for its second season premiere on CTV. The most-watched program of the night nationally with younger (A18-34) and female (F18-34) viewers, SAVING HOPE also performed well in the markets. The premiere delivered strong ratings of 4.6 to 4.8 in Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary for F18-34, and won the night for A18-34 in Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton. SAVING HOPE also saw half-hour growth nationally among all key adult and female demos.
Viewers can watch last night’s episode and catch up on Season 1 across CTV’s digital platforms, including CTV.ca, the CTV App, the CTV Mobile channel on Bell Mobile TV, and through video on demand partners such as Bell Fibe TV.

Picking up the pieces in ‘Saving Hope’ Season 2
Saving Hope‘s Season 1 finale was bittersweet in many ways. Not only were American fans of the Canadian show painfully aware that Season 2 would not air in the U.S. thanks to NBC’s decision to cancel the show, but international fans who rooted for Charlie (Michael Shanks) and Alex (Erica Durance) to be together again were left waiting at the alter. The second season picks up several months after that key event, but thankfully for those on Team Charlie, there is still hope for the star-crossed lovers. Continue reading.
