    In 2009, Olejnik signed on for The Listener, in which he plays a paramedic with the ability to hear people’s thoughts. Filmed in Toronto, the show aired in both the U.S. and Canada for its first season. NBC has removed it from its schedule, but it continues to pull a million-plus viewers in Canada. Olejnik, 32, is also a partner in Raw Canvas, a Vancouver lounge and art studio, and has recently begun to produce short films. He spoke to us in Toronto last week. Read more.

CTV’s Hit Mind-Bending Series THE LISTENER Returns August 17

  • THE LISTENER to air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CTV
  • Averaging 1 million + viewers, Season 2 has spiked 17% over Season 1
  • Last three episodes to air before THE LISTENER Season 3 begins production

image002The final three episodes of the second season of CTV’s hit original series THE LISTENER air in a prime Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET timeslot beginning August 17 on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Averaging 1.08 million viewers season-to-date, THE LISTENER has seen an incredible growth of 17% among total viewers in Season 2. A third season of the series was recently ordered by CTV from Shaftesbury.

Taking over the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE timeslot on CTV, THE LISTENER stars Craig Olejnik (The Timekeeper), Ennis Esmer (Young People F**king), Lauren Lee Smith (CSI), and Tara Spencer-Nairn (CORNER GAS). This supernatural crime-fighting drama’s three new episodes feature guest stars Cynthia Dale (STREET LEGAL, MADE IN CANADA) and Kris Holden-Ried (THE TUDORS, LOST GIRL).

Season 2 of THE LISTENER is currently airing Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on SPACE.

n the next new episode of THE LISTENER, “To Die For” (Wednesday, August 17 at 8 p.m. ET), Toby (Craig Olejnik) is brought in to authenticate the testimony of a star witness – a celebrated restaurant chef – in the trial of a mob boss charged with shooting his business partner. Oz (Ennis Esmer) does Sandy (Tara Spencer-Nairn) a favour by looking after her niece’s pet ferret, but then makes the mistake of shifting that responsibility to Toby.

THE LISTENER also stars Rainbow Sun Francks (STARGATE ATLANTIS) as Corp. Dev Clark, Peter Stebbings (MADISON) as Alvin Klein, the IIB’s in-house legal expert, Mylène Dinh-Robic (STARGATE ATLANTIS) as Dr. Olivia Fawcett and Arnold Pinnock (THIS IS WONDERLAND) as EMS supervisor George Ryder.

THE LISTENER premiered in 120 countries and 33 languages across FOX International Channels networks starting in March 2009. The series debuted to solid ratings in countries including the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Poland, Brazil and Turkey. THE LISTENER Season 2 began airing on FOX International Channels’ local networks in March 2011.

Bell Media Announces Commencement of the Bell Benefits as Key Canadian Programs Re-Ordered

  • Bell Media orders new seasons of FLASHPOINT, THE LISTENER and THE BORGIAS for 2011/12
  • Erica Durance cast in pilot for SAVING HOPE, which begins production along with fellow pilot STAY WITH ME

Bell Media announced today the commencement of the Bell Benefits, as the company begins its search for the next great Canadian TV program or series. The announcement comes as CTV also independently orders new seasons of three scripted original series, as well as a new original movie, for 2011/12. Additionally, Bell Media announced the start of production on two previously announced pilots for the network, SAVING HOPE and STAY WITH ME.
