  • NATIONWIDE CITYTV TALENT SEARCH CONTINUES WITH LIVE THEATRE AUDITION TOUR IN SIX CITIES

Citytv invites Canadians to join in on the action when the biggest talent search in the country rolls into town in a theatre near you! Beginning mid-October, Canada’s Got Talent hits the road once again for its second cross-country trek, stopping in six cities for the Live Theatre Audition Tour.

The tour stops in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Winnipeg, Halifax and Montreal, and will feature the most talented and entertaining acts from the first round of auditions earlier in the year. Canada’s Got Talent premieres on Citytv in Spring 2012.

Viewers and listeners can tune in to Citytv, Breakfast Television and Rogers Radio stations in local markets for a chance to win tickets to the Live Theatre Audition Tour. In addition, tickets are also available free of charge at www.canadasgottalent.com. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis, with limited availability.

Good news continues for Mr. Young

  • Good news keeps coming for Burnaby-based TV show
    Mr. Young, about a whiz-kid-turned-teen genius who finishes university and returns to high school as a teacher at the age of 14, has been picked up by Cartoon Network Latin America, and will begin airing in Latin America and the Carribean in 2012. Earlier this month, the show announced it would be airing on Disney XD channels around the globe. The show premiered in the U.S. yesterday, and will be running daily for the next two weeks.     “The character of N’udu positively subverts the stereotype of the aggressive and dangerous African spy,” he says. “I’m excited, as I’ve been working to ensure that we see various sides and layers to N’udu as the season progresses.” That progression includes reflection of the immigrant experience in trying to assimilate while holding onto one’s roots. “Our audience now knows the respective characters, and now we can get into how they interact with one another. I think that people will be happily surprised by N’udu’s character and with how the second season turns out.” Read more.

CBC finds excellence with Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays

    Conveniently, there’s a new CBC show that is not just good, it is excellent. Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays, a half-hour comedy created by Don McKellar and Bob Martin, follows the lives of Michael (Matt Walsh) and David (Bob Martin), the therapist he visits twice a week. Michael, who is beset by an array of phobias — the closing credits describe the series as “based on the neuroses of Matt Walsh” — has been seeing David for 15 years, over which time he has become at least functional, if still rather skittish.
