  • Premieres Friday, October 3 at 9 p.m. ET* on The Movie Network (8 p.m. PT on Movie Central in Western Canada)
    * Two-hour premiere on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 9 p.m. ET with subsequent episodes premiering Fridays at 8 p.m. ET

Sanctuary is set in a mysterious and supernatural world and follows the adventures of Dr. Helen Magnus, her reluctant protégé Will Zimmerman and her fearless and somewhat reckless daughter Ashley, as they study and try to help the strange, terrifying and monstrous creatures that populate their world. Shot almost entirely on green screen using cutting-edge visual effects, Sanctuary is the first television series in North America to use the RED camera system, a digital medium that provides the latest in camera technology by capturing images at more than double the resolution of a high definition camera. Starring Amanda Tapping, Robin Dunne and Emilie Ullerup.

CTV Orders Second Season of Flashpoint

More Flashpoint in the Crosshairs: CTV Orders Second Season of Hit Original Series

  • Early production order for homegrown drama, Canada’s most-watched scripted series
  • Flashpoint bests CBC’s Olympic Prime in Toronto

CTV has ordered a second season of its hit original series Flashpoint from Toronto-based Pink Sky Entertainment and Avamar Entertainment. The announcement was made today by Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc., just days after production wrapped in Toronto on this summer’s most-watched scripted series. A hit since it premiered last month, Flashpoint continues to deliver Olympian audiences, besting CBC’s coverage of the Beijing Games in both weeks of Olympic broadcasts in Toronto. A total of 13 new episodes are expected to head into production in early 2009 (all production details TBA).

    “Once Corner Gas ends, TV viewers might not see Brent Butt’s face again. (That sound you just heard was CTV executives having simultaneous heart attacks from coast to coast.) Rest assured, Butt is not reneging on his development deal with CTV for a new series, post-Corner Gas. But as Butt told Sun Media, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be starring in the new project.” Read more.
