Bravo!FACT Presents, Bravo, Sept. 22

From a CHUM media release:

New season of BRAVO!FACT Presents premieres on Bravo! September 22

Now also airing on Citytv and A-Channel

The new season of Bravo!FACT Presents, the first regular weekly show to feature Canadian short films in prime-time, will now – in addition to Bravo! – air on Citytv Vancouver, Citytv Toronto, and A-Channel Barrie/Toronto, London, Ottawa and Victoria).  Each week, the half-hour show will feature four or five short films funded by Bravo!FACT (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent).  These artistic gems cover a range of subject matter and styles.  From sand animation to opera, modern dance to short dramas; the variety is endless, as is the creative talent in Canada.

The new season of Bravo!FACT Presents launches with Burnt Toast, three broadcast half-hours featuring eight comedic operatic vignettes written by Kids in the Hall editor Dan Redican and directed by Academy Award-nominated Larry Weinstein.  Produced by Rhombus Media and marblemedia, this CBC/Bravo!FACT award-winning show also includes additional behind-the-scenes footage of and/or interviews with the cast and crew.

Burnt Toast follows the arc of the modern relationship from a darkly comedic viewpoint with each series of vignettes using a different set of characters to tell stories of unrequited love and courtship, the various phases of marriage, and the disintegration and end of a relationship.  Characters spontaneously break into grand operatic song to express even the most mundane thought – with extremely funny results.  Such notable Canadians as Paul Gross, Mark McKinney, Scott Thompson, Colin Mochrie, Jessica Holmes, Seán Cullen and Liane Balaban play characters; the music is composed by Alexina Louie and conducted by Alex Pauk of the Esprit Orchestra; and featured in the shorts are the voices of Isabel Bayrakdarian, Michael Colvin, Jean Stilwell, Joel Katz and more.  For more info, visit www.burnttoastopera.com.

Burnt Toast will air in three episodes of Bravo!FACT Presents on:
