Association announces CFTPA Indie Awards nominees

The Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) is extremely pleased to announce the nominees of the CFTPA Indie Awards.

The awards were created by the CFTPA in order to recognize and honour the outstanding achievements of Canadian independent producers. The Awards will be presented at a special reception and ceremony in Ottawa on February 20th, 2008.

“There is an incredible number of talented independent producers across Canada, and this is a reality that is not celebrated nearly as often as it ought to be,” said Guy Mayson, President and CEO, CFTPA “On behalf of the members of the CFTPA and the Board of Directors, we are proud to showcase such excellence and we congratulate all the nominees.”

CTV Programming Highlights, Jan. 13-19

Programming highlights on CTV for Jan. 13-19 include the return of hit Degrassi: The Next Generation along with new episodes of Corner Gas.

• The Gemini Award-winning drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation returns for its seventh new season (Jan. 14)
• The laughs in Dog River continue as Corner Gas pumps up for the return of Season 5 (Jan. 14)
• The CTV Original Documentary Confessions of an Innocent Man presents the horrifying tale of a man who was arrested and tortured for a crime he didn’t commit (Jan. 19)

Monday, January 14
7:30 p.m. – Degrassi: The Next Generation – “Standing in the Dark, Part 1” – SEASON PREMIERE
The corridors of Degrassi have become a pressure cooker. With an unexpected influx of students from Lakehurst, Degrassi students find themselves facing old enemies and making new friends. But Darcy has her own problems to worry about. In her final semester of Grade 11, the God-loving Spirit Squad captain finds herself being pulled in two different directions. When she chooses a secret weekend getaway with bad-boy boyfriend Peter over the objections of her parents, Darcy quickly finds herself in an explosive, dangerous situation that will impact her life forever.

9:30 p.m. – Corner Gas – “Classical Gas” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
When an unexpected member of the Leroy family pays a visit, Brent comes to terms with his life’s purpose as a gas station attendant.

Saturday, January 19
7 p.m. – CTV Original Documentary – Confessions of an Innocent Man – PREMIERE
It was the confession heard around the world. On Feb. 4, 2001, William Sampson – a Canadian and British dual citizen working as a business consultant in Saudi Arabia – and his two colleagues confessed on live television to orchestrating a car-bombing that killed British engineer Christopher Rodway. For the next 31 months, Sampson was held in solitary confinement and regularly tortured by his captors. Confessions of an Innocent Man, presents, for the first time ever, Sampson’s horrifying tale from a variety of perspectives.
