Canadian Quiz Show QUBIT Brings Hovering Hologram and Tough Trivia to Discovery Channel, July 4

  • Host Andrew Anthony guides wily competitors in their quest to win $10,000

In an extreme battle of wits, the new Discovery series QUBIT is a fast-paced original Canadian quiz show that – for the first time ever – uses a 3-D hologram game board, or Qube, to test Canadians mental prowess in the realm of science. During the game, three contestants battle each other for the chance to face off against the Qube and win $10,000. Andrew Anthony (LIFE’S A TRIP, MATCHMAKER) hosts the series, which is taped before a live studio audience. QUBIT premieres Saturday, July 4 at 6:30 p.m. ET on Discovery Channel. New episodes air every Wednesday beginning July 8 at 6 and 6:30 p.m. ET and Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. ET.

In each episode of QUBIT, a visually-stunning 3-D hologram Qube hovers in front of three contestants. In the first round, the Qube lays itself out in front of players to reveal six categories. Host Andrew Anthony reads questions related to a chosen category, which span the world of science, technology and natural history. Each quirky and odd question is worth a certain amount of points. The two players with the highest score at the end of round one proceed to round two, where they face a series of timed challenges. Finally, only the strongest player proceeds to round three, where they have a chance to “crack the Qube” by answering each question correctly and win $10,000.

Throughout the game, the Qube displays the categories and HD visual clues to questions. Host Andrew Anthony is part traffic cop, part cheerleader, guiding the contestants through each round.

Anthony brings a broad background in law, advertising, voicing and hosting to his duties on QUBIT. Anthony previously served as host of the dating show MATCHMAKER, the award-winning TV series AD PERSUASION, Vancouver-based MAKING IT BIG and the travel+escape series LIFE’S A TRIP.
