Being Human in production

From a media release:

Muse Entertainment Enterprises Announces the Start Of BEING HUMAN

Being Human, an edgy, multi-genre television series based on the UK series of the same name, is now in production in Montreal , starring Sam Witwer (Smallville, CSI), Meaghan Rath (Prom Wars, 18 to Life) Sam Huntington (Fanboys, Superman Returns), and Mark Pellegrino (Supernatural, Lost).

The series, produced by Muse Entertainment, follows the lives of three, otherworldly roommates: a vampire (Witwer), a ghost (Rath) and a werewolf (Huntington), all desperately trying to live as human beings. They help each other navigate through complex double lives while struggling to hide their dark secrets from the world.

The 13 x 1 hour episodes, based on the highly popular UK series produced by Touchpaper Television and executive produced by Rob Pursey, is being produced for SyFy in the US and SPACE in Canada. RDF Rights currently distributes the UK series and the format for Being Human and will distribute the new version of the series internationally.

“Being Human is truly innovative in that it ingeniously interweaves supernatural, drama, comedy and horror,” says Michael Prupas, (The Kennedys, Pillars of the Earth) Executive Producer and President of Muse Entertainment. “Audiences will be hooked from the first scenes and thoroughly captivated.”

“The BBC’s Being Human captured my imagination completely, so when I had the opportunity to be involved with the reinvention of the series, I jumped at the chance,” says Director and co-Executive Producer Adam Kane (The Mentalist, Heroes). “We’ve brought a fresh take to the visual language and storylines, introducing a distinctive flavor to the heart and soul of what makes the series identifiable, human, and entertaining.”

The dark and witty drama is written and executive produced by husband-and-wife duo Jeremy Carver (Waterfront, Supernatural) and Anna Fricke (Dawson’s Creek, Everwood). The Producer is Irene Litinsky (Human Trafficking, The Phantom) of Muse Entertainment, the Director of Photography is Pierre Jodoin (The Last Templar, Secrets of the Mountain) and the Production Designer is Zoë Sakellaropoulo (The Last Templar, The Phantom).

TV, eh? podcast episode 4: Enrico Colantoni of Flashpoint plus The Movie Network/Movie Central/HBO Canada schedules

Episode 4: Listen or download here or subscribe via iTunes or with any other program via the TV, Eh? feed

Anthony and I mock Global’s upcoming show Canada Sings, the producers of The Bridge for thinking CBS is still on board, Degrassi ratings information, and each other. I praise The Movie Network/Movie Central/HBO Canada and Call Me Fitz but we mock their “terrible branding problem” and the vagueness of The Yard‘s premise.

We don’t mock Flashpoint but discuss the season three premiere, and I talk to Enrico Colantoni about his role as Greg Parker and how Flashpoint is a great example of Canadian storytelling. As we say during the podcast, the interview doesn’t have great sound quality and strict spoilerphobes should beware.

  • Canada Sings – I am excited at how much Anthony is going to hate this Glee-like reality show, even if I’m not excited about the show itself
  • The Bridge is cancelled on CBS, despite what the producers want to believe

  • Degrassi is doing well. I think. If I’m parsing the media release correctly.
