Bryan Baeumler and Scott McGillivray star in new HGTV series

From a media release:

Big news has been building at HGTV Canada and we’re ready for the big reveal! The network has commissioned two brand-new Canadian original series from two of its most celebrated hosts, Bryan Baeumler (HGTV Canada’s #1 series House of Bryan*, Leave It to Bryan) and Scott McGillivray (Income Property) that give viewers an insider’s look into the personal and professional lives of two of their favourite celebrity contractors. Production is underway on Bryan Inc. (WT) and Moving the McGillivrays (WT) with both series slated to premiere on HGTV Canada in Fall 2016.

In the exciting new, 13×60 series Bryan Inc., Bryan and Sarah Baeumler are letting viewers in on their journey to buy, renovate and sell homes for profit. The dynamic husband and wife duo transform into builder and project manager while trying to balance a busy home life with their four active kids “Q” (10), Charlotte (8), Lincoln (3) and Jojo (2). Working together is bound to impact their relationships as Sarah and Bryan’s competing tastes and differing visions cause many hiccups, but their humour and signature banter see them through every struggle.

It’s moving time! In the new 10×60 series Moving the McGillivrays, Scott and his wife Sabrina plan and build a dream home for their young family. In every episode of Moving the McGillivrays, viewers get a glimpse into Scott and Sabrina’s busy family life, see how they balance working full-time, taking care of their two daughters, while being part of every decision and build detail on their new dream home. But the McGillivrays haven’t lost sight of the fact that there are families who need help on the home front. So he helps build a home for a hard-working, family in need, all while making sure his new house is completed on time and on budget. There will be laughter and a few tears when both homes are move-in ready and two families’ dreams come true.

Before Scott sets in for the hard work of building two dream homes, it’s time for a vacation and he’s taking fans with him. Income Property: On Vacation (WT) is a spin-off of the hit franchise, now with a deep dive into the hot rental market of vacation properties. Scott guides holiday homeowners through the process of building a vacation suite and banking the rental cheques – while taking advantage of all that the sun, surf, and sand has to offer. Income Property: On Vacation is set to premiere in 2016.

Bryan Inc. is produced by Si Entertainment, Moving the McGillivrays by McGillivray Entertainment, and Income Property: On Vacation by SKIT Media Inc., each in association with Shaw Media.

From Margaret Lyons of the Vulture:

Slings and Arrows Is the Show Rachel McAdams (and All of Us) Deserved

Spun Out lands high card with Jennifer Tilly

It takes a lot to get Jennifer Tilly away from the poker table. A love for the game turned into a full-on obsession after meeting her boyfriend—professional poker player Phil Laak—and tournaments fill her calendar, leaving little time to act.

Unless an old friend like Dave Foley comes calling.

“I have a lot of things going on in my life and my agents asked about this, assuming I’d say no, and I went, ‘Dave Foley! I want to see him again!'” Tilly appears in Tuesday’s new episode of Spun Out—”The Secret of My Ex-Wife’s Success”—as Maggie Felgate, one of Dave Lyons’ exes. As Tilly tells it, Maggie and Dave are still carrying a bit of a torch for each other … until Maggie poaches one of Dave’s clients to start her own PR firm.

Tilly says the allure of reuniting with Foley and the chance to visit her sister, Meg, in Toronto were both big reasons for her to agree to the role, as well as the writing. At this point in her career, she reveals, a role has to be interesting, fun, creatively fulfilling or all three to grab her attention.

“If someone had told me back when I was obsessed with acting that I’d be obsessed with poker, I have thought they were crazy,” she says with a laugh. Tilly has made a career out of signing on to interesting projects, whether it be voice work on Family Guy and The Simpsons, crime thriller Bound, cop drama Hill Street Blues or playing the girlfriend to a murderous doll in Bride of Chucky. But the malevolent child’s toy is no match for the truly scary stuff Tilly sees in Hollywood.

“A lot of Hollywood people are trying to play younger and get all shot up with Botox and have this and that done,” she says with a twinge of sadness. “I don’t want to be one of those people with the huge Botox vein.”

“I was watching a movie recently and this woman looked like she hadn’t aged in 20 years. And she started to cry. I could tell she was crying because the tears were rolling down her face, but her hairline was just twitching a little bit. It was the most horrifying thing I ever saw.”

Spun Out airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV.

From Jonathan Peltz of Vice:

High School Never Ends: An Interview with the Creators of ‘Degrassi’
“There is going to be some change to how the narrative of the show unfolds. There will be two chapters of ten episodes each. Each chapter has its own thematic storyline. As we tell each story, there are some stories that compete with each other and then bits and pieces flow through. We actually don’t have a roll out plan from Netflix yet but we are aware that our audience could be binge watching. We’re trying to make an experience that will be satisfying on a weekly basis. But if you watch it at once it’s a very juicy form of creative storytelling.” Continue reading.
