“Token Canadian” Cory Monteith on hosting the Geminis

smallFrom Raju Mudhar of the Toronto Star:

  • Cory Monteith: From Glee to the Geminis
“I think some of the CBC shows and Flashpoint (on CTV) for example, (shows with) a joint production deal with an American network have been doing well, but generally most people are unaware of Canadian programming in the U.S. and one of the strongest allies that Canadian television can have is the United States … but it’s great to bring our best offerings to the world, really, not just to the U.S., but to a broader market, and have people know more about Canadian talent overall.” Read more.

Episode 18: Listen or download here or subscribe via iTunes or with any other program via the TV, Eh? feed

Anthony and Diane talk about the Gemini awards given out last week and those to come on Saturday, which (d)evolves into a rant about the awards representing greed and ego above the best in Canadian television.

We gush a little about Gordon Pinsent and his newfound viral success, as well as upcoming role as the voice of Babar.

What IS up with Canada and our exporting of cop shows to the US?

Erin Karpluk 01 highThis week’s interview guests are Erin Karpluk and Adam Fergus of Being Erica, who talk about season three’s theme of transformation.

Anthony and Diane talk about Gemini host Cory Monteith (aka Lip Ring from Whistler) and recently announced presenters including Grace Park, Enrico Colantoni, and the cast of Rookie Blue, and the special Geminis going to Polka Dot Door and The New Music.

We’re less than ecstatic to announce that E! is coming back to Canada. And even more un-ecstatic that Canwest is now Shaw.

And we discuss DVR ratings boosting serial dramas in particular.
