Award show honours excellence in Canadian film and television
Celebrated actor and comedian Martin Short is set to host the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards once again, following a memorable performance at last year’s inaugural ceremony. The awards will be broadcast live on CBC-TV on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto.
“I’m thrilled to be back hosting the Canadian Screen Awards,†said Short. “Actually it’s more than a thrill, it’s a contractual obligation.â€
“We are eager to see what Martin Short has in store for us at this year’s awards, as we celebrate the best in Canadian talent,†said Jennifer Dettman, executive director of Studio and Unscripted Programming. “Last year he pulled out all the stops, making the inaugural Canadian Screen Awards an unforgettable night. He is such a renowned entertainer, and we are honoured to have him as our host for the second year in a row.â€
Both an SCTV and Saturday Night Live alumnus, Short is one of Canada’s most successful film and television comedians. The Hamilton, Ontario native’s career spans not only the big and small screens, but the stage as well, where he won a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway revival of Little Me.
