In the news: Online content leaves Canada behind

From the Financial Post:

  • Video theft may rise in Canada
“The problem is that despite the fact that Canadians can watch Canadian content, like Corner Gas and Falcon Beach online, they will want to view triple-A content from American broadcasters, especially if their American cousins can do so for free, [Kaan Yigit, a new-media analyst with Toronto-based Solutions Research Group] said. ‘The net effect here in Canada will be a bump in piracy, because all of this stuff is reasonably easily available in Canada on sites like Limewire,’ he said.”

Blood Ties Internet extras

From Dead Things on Sticks (aka Denis McGrath, one of the show’s writers), some behind the scenes information. The show will apparently air on CHUM in fall 2007:

  • Lifetime’s Blood Ties Behind the Scenes
“As for you long suffering Canadian fans, yes I know it’s filmed here. Yes, I know it seems unfair. But at least there’s this ray of hope: the content on the website is not geo-locked — so you can go and view it all you want.”
