Poll: The 2015 TV Ehwards

UPDATE: Thanks for voting—the poll has closed. Congratulations to the winners.

With just a few more days until the end of 2015, TV, Eh? brings back The TV Ehwards, where readers and fans of Canadian TV can cast their votes in several well thought-out categories.

This year’s nominees are broken down into 10 categories named after several iconic homegrown series from the past, something Anthony and Greg explained in our most recent podcast.

You’re allowed one vote per category, so make it count. Voting is open until Sunday, Jan. 3, upon which time we’ll inform the winners—likely via tweet—and encourage acceptance speeches. (Vote by selecting one choice per category and then clicking the “Vote” button down and to the right of the last show option.)

  1. What makes Murdoch Mysteries so very special is that at times it is also a comedy, a science fiction or a romance as well as a mystery show. That is one reason it is the best!

  2. I find this poll interesting in that there are topics left to vote for and not one person has cast a vote. What will happen in these instances? I myself, do not watch them, therefore, I cannot vote for them. I hope they are not left to take up space on our TV’s just for the sake of filling a vacancy. If they are not watched or voted for they should get cancelled. I love that Murdoch Mysteries made #1. I totally agree. It should be number one!! I love the content in this show and the familiarity with locales across Ontario. Awesome show!!

    1. I still watch Heartland and probably will to the end out of habit/loyalty, but the quality has taken a massive tumble lately.

Both This Life and When Calls The Heart are significantly better, more cohesively written shows that don’t insult its audience’s intelligence or attention spans the way current Heartland often dips into doing — even if they don’t have the audience size (yet).

      1. i hope that Heartland wins iI watch it all the time its a great familly TV SHOW there like family to all us fans

  3. Have watched Heartland from the beginning , and realy enjoyed every episode . The last few episodes have not been up to the standards previous episodes set. Looking forward to improved episodes in 2016 .

  4. Love Heartland….. this year’s series is more down to earth with Georgie rebelling when she doesn’t get her way, how a break down of a marriage have the kids playing off each parent and that communication is always needed for building trust and respect. It seems that calling it quits to a marriage was easier than working out their problems.

Also liked This Life as it shows what today’s family is really like….wanting to be like by your peers is more important than family values, however the family is not judgemental with each other but tries to help each other when they make a mistake.

  5. I hope Heartland wins. This is our families favorite show! Filmed in Alberta what’s not to like! Horses, mountains, Ranches, and family! I like that show is a great family show. No violence, no foul language. All the actors are great in the roles. I really can relate to Jack. Hopefully we will be able to see it return next season!

  6. I love Heartland and certainly hope there will be a 10th season this fall. Amber, Graham, Shawn and Michelle do such a great job playing their characters, as do the other actors. In addition to the story, though, I watch so that I can see the beautiful shots of the foothills of southern Alberta. This series is beautifully and skillfully filmed!

  7. Have seen a few episodes of black stone it’s a good story and enjoy watching good luck to everyone

  8. Although I like so many there has been one that when I was horribly depressed encouraged my true sense of connection… What is the show that encourages people all over the world? What is the show that makes people take a second look at Canada? What is the show that reminds us that family, friends and animals and the land are portent?

The answer to all these questions and more is Heartland. My most favourite episode will always be Full Circle…an episode that reintroduced a true sense of connection to me.

And because of this show it encourages jobs elsewhere including in Canada.

  9. HEARTLAND is my favorite!
    Out of all of them!!
It’s perfect for a life you want to live! Teaches you a lot what you need to know. And I love that Amber (Amy) works with the horses! And Georgie loves animals. There all my favorite!! I would def love to see more.

  10. i love heartland great actors story lines ;;one of the best t.v. shows i;ve seen in a long time ;hoping for season 10 heart warming show .i just love it ; hoping it wins .

    1. you right Heartland is the best the best show on TV on sunday nights. It’s not very often there is a family show on TV that all the family can watch together. Bring the show back.

  11. Love Heartland i am voting for it because i love family movies and this the best one, reminding you of respect and family values. Please bring it back to the united states we love to watch it also

  12. Heartland is one of my favorite shows – we need more family oriented shows with old fashion values – ie. good triumphs over evil. Courtesy and respect for others should be a value shown in many other productions instead of bad manners and selfish violent behaviors. Hope Heartland stays on for a very long time.

  13. Heartland is a good series that sometimes things go wrong even the outcome gets resolved in an hectic way, and at the end there is time to laugh, joke about these crazy situations thru the crazy life that we live in the real life. Heartland helps in lots of ways for the fans cause it deals with what everyone feels in life they can sit down and take a breather when life gets tough and to really know how to take care of there thoughts that No one know about in there real life that sometime get people to talk about to someone that there close to. We the fans need these kind of series in our life thanks to the cast, crew, and everyone that makes these series of heartland cause it hits where the heart is.

  14. I am a 61 year old from Lizton, IN USA. I watched the first season of Heartland when it aired here on Saturday afternoons three or four years ago. Was thrilled when Netflix picked it up. Watch the current season on Youtube. Heartland is one of two shows I will not miss. I certainly hope we get a season 10 followed by many more. It is truly a fantastic family show.

  15. I love Heartland but I have to say that I really like When Calls the Heart as well! I really wanted to vote for both of them!

    1. I JUST LOVE WATCHING HEARTLAND BECAUSE IT IS A GOOD SERIES
AND PLUS I LOVED READING ALL THEIR BOOKS. SO PLEASE DONT GET
      RID OF THIS BEAUTIFUL SHOW.

  16. I AM GLAD TO VOTE FOR HEARTLAND AS THE BEST SHOW ON TV. IT IS FOR ALL AGES THE CAST MAKES THE VIEWER A PART OF THERE LIVES EACH WEEK. I LIVE IN THE USA (BALL LOUISIANA). I HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE EACH SEASON BUT IT IS WORTH IT. I HAVE BOUGHT THE FIRST THUR EIGTH SEASON AND I WATCH THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND I SEE DIFFERENT STORY LINRE INTERTWINED. THE ACTORS HAVE BEEN GROWING AS THE SHOW CONTINUES. I TRY TO EVEN SHARE PICTURES ON FACE BOOK. I AM SO GLAD THAT BLOG WHISPER KEEPS US IN THE USA INFORMED JUST ENOUGH TO WANT US TO CANADA JUST TO SEE THE SHOW(NOT REALLY, BEING FROM THE DEEP SOUTH NO WAY I COULD NOT GET USE TO ALL THE COLD).
