TV Eh B Cs podcast 27 – The Erin Karpluk Chronicle

Erin_KarplukBetween 2000 and 2005, Erin Karpluk began her acting career by appearing in more than a dozen television movies and series before landing the role of Kate in Godiva’s. Karpluk earned a Leo nomination for her first season of Godiva’s and a 2006 Gemini nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role.

Since Godiva’s, Karpluk has continued to work in television and short films. In 2007 she appeared in Bionic Woman, Flash Gordon and The L Word with a leading role in the 2008 television movie, Smokejumpers.

She’s probably best known, however, as Erica Strange on the CBC television series Being Erica. In 2009, she won the Gemini award for her role in Being Erica.

She’s currently starring alongside Tahmoh Penikett in a new web series called Riftworld Chronicles while having the recurring role of Juliet on Rookie Blue.

TV, eh? podcast episode 186 – Not Necessarily Schmaltzy

After almost a month apart, Diane, Anthony and Greg reunited to chat about several things in the Canadian TV industry. First, Diane gave us the scoop on her set visit to Chris Haddock’s new series for CBC called The Romeo Section, then talk turned to Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany finally receiving a Primetime Emmy nomination.

After some more Emmy chat regarding how Netflix, Amazon and Yahoo have changed the face of this year’s nominations we closed out with the NFL’s plan to force the CRTC to let CTV air their own ads during the Super Bowl, and a senate report offering some recommendations on how the CBC should operate in the future.

TV Eh B Cs podcast 26 – Jeff Biederman’s Spinning Wheel

JeffBJeff Biederman is an award winning television comedy writer and producer. Most recently, Jeff was a show runner for two seasons of the CTV sitcom Spun Out. Season Two was pulled before airing from CTV’s schedule due to cast conflict back in January.

He was a writer and producer for 70 episodes of the teen comedy series Life With Derek and show runner on three seasons of the tween comedy series Overruled!, a series he co-created.

He has story edited over 200 episodes of television and has written for: My Babysitter’s A Vampire, The Latest Buzz, Radio Free Roscoe and too many more to mention.

And right after we talked about the unknown future for Spun Out, we found out late breaking news that CTV is going to show Season 2 this summer starting July 14th. But… as you’ll find out… we didn’t know this while recording, which makes for a unique contextual conversation.

TV Eh B Cs podcast 25: Tahmoh Penikett’s Portals Prophecies and Pants

TahmohBefore landing his role on the award-winning Battlestar Galactica as Karl ‘Helo’ Agathon, Tahmoh Penikett starred in the final season of the critically acclaimed Canadian series Cold Squad.
After Battlestar Galactica, he went on to star in Dollhouse by Joss Whedon. He has guest-starred on a variety of series, including recurring roles on Castle, Supernatural, The Killing, Bomb Girls, Strange Empire and Continuum.
He recently completed shooting the lead role in the film Painkillers, which will hit theatres in 2015.  He also starred in the short film Trapped Ashes, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, and appeared in 2013’s Man of Steel.
His latest project is a webseries for CBC Punchline called Riftworld in which he plays the dimensionally-stranded wizard, Alar of Caer Caladh.

Paul_MatherPaul Mather was showrunner on the iconic series CORNER GAS, the most successful sitcom in Canadian history. He also ran the internationally acclaimed commercial hit LITTLE MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRIE. Paul co-created and co-ran the Gemini-nominated series DAN FOR MAYOR for CTV and created and ran MEN WITH BROOMS for CBC. Outside of the sitcom format, Paul was head writer and a Supervising Producer on one of the Canada’s highest-rated and most enduring shows, the news satire RICK MERCER REPORT. Since moving to the U.S., Paul has developed with CBS, and was a Supervising Producer on NBC’s THE MICHAEL J. FOX SHOW and on FRIEND ME for CBS.
