Annie1Annie Murphy is a graduate of both the Canadian Film Centre Actors’ Conservatory and the Theatre Performance Program at Concordia University.

Her projects have included Beauty & The Beast, Rookie Blue, Flashpoint, Good God, The Story of Jen and Blue Mountain State. Murphy has also spent time on stages in Montreal and Toronto.

She is currently starring in Schitt’s Creek for CBC as Alexis Rose, and the day we recorded, her new CBC web series The Plateaus hit the web with the first five episodes of a story about a band of brother, sister, best friends, lovers, and lastly, musicians.

Emily Hampshire, Meaghan Rath among Golden Maple Award winners

The Academy of Canadians in Sports and Entertainment – Los Angeles (ACISE-LA) just held the inaugural 2015 Golden Maple Awards at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles on Canada Day, July 1, 2015.

The event was hosted by Erin Karpluk from the upcoming Riftworld Chronicles who stepped in for Lauren Ash due to a sickness.

During the event former NBA basketball player and Canadian actor Rick Fox, was honored with the 2015 Maple of Excellence for Outstanding Athlete/Actor Crossover award and Canadian CrossFit champion Lucas Parker with the 2015 Maple of Excellence for Outstanding Athlete award.

Members of ACISE-LA had the opportunity to vote until June 23, 2015 for the winners in the following categories:

Best Actor in a TV series broadcasted in the US

Best Actress in a TV series broadcasted in the US

Newcomer of the year in a TV series broadcasted in the US.

Orphan Black, Bomb Girls, 19-2, Degrassi highlight DGC nominations

The DGC is delighted to announce the 2015 DGC Awards nominees. Selected from over 250 submissions, the nominees in 19 categories represent a cross section of the industry’s outstanding talent working in the screen-based industry. The Awards will be presented at the annual Gala on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at The Carlu in Toronto. Hosted by Arisa Cox and Seán Cullen with special guests soon to be announced, the 14th edition of the DGC Awards promises to be a big one. The evening will feature a special Nominees’ reception prior to the Gala.
