Why you should watch Seed

From Anne T. Donahue of Yahoo:

Why you should be watching ‘Seed’
“Seed,” the Canadian-produced unorthodox family comedy, premiered on Citytv on Feb. 4, but it’s not too late to begin watching. Starring Adam Korson (“Two Broke Girls”), “Seed” celebrates a new type of modern family: one that’s formed at the, er, hands of a sperm donor — and in this case, a sperm donor whose children attempt to include him in their existing familial set-ups. Sentimental? Absolutely. But unlike “The New Normal,” viewers aren’t hit over the head with a life lesson at the end of every episode. From the get-go, “Seed” treats its audience like adults; like they’re in on the joke. Read more.

Monday: Seed, Murdoch Mysteries, Being Human, Wild Things

Seed

Seed, City – “Zygote Problems”
Harry (Adam Korson) helps Billy’s (William Ainscough) moms – Zoey (Stephanie Anne Mills) and Michelle (Amanda Brugel) – encourage him to be cooler at school. Meanwhile, Jonathan (Matt Baram) and Janet (Laura De Carteret) fear their daughter Anastasia (Abby Ross) may be failing French, and administer an I.Q. test for Harry, fearing she got the “dumb gene” from him. Plus, Harry and Rose (Carrie-Lynn Neales) square off about the future of Rose’s potential child.

Murdoch Mysteries, CBC – “Murdoch and the Cloud of Doom”
When an anonymous madman threatens the citizens of Toronto with a deadly toxic gas, Murdoch must race against the clock to stop him.

Being Human, Space – “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Mouth”
Liam (Xander Berkeley, NIKITA) tries to pit Josh and Nora against Aidan, Sally gets closer with Max (Bobby Campo, Final Destination) at the funeral home, and Kenny (Geoff Gustafson, ONCE UPON A TIME) suspects that Aidan may be a vampire.

Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan, OLN – “Venezuela – Scolopendra”
Dominic Monaghan (Lost) journeys to the wilds of Venezuela in search of a remote cave rumoured to house the Scolopendra Gigantica. Considered the world’s largest centipede, the Scolopendra Gigantica is an aggressive and venomous carnivore known to snatch bats mid-flight.

What made Seed sag?

From Bill Brioux of TV Feeds My Family:

Getting to the root of Seed’s slow start
The one that really seems, if you’ll pardon the pun, inconceivable: the soft opening of Seed Monday night on City. According to the overnight estimates, it drew 344,000 viewers across Canada–about half what I would have predicted. The network gave the Halifax-based comedy plenty of on-air promotion. The timeslot seemed like a perfect fit, hammocked between two of City’s top import comedies, How I Met Your Mother (which scored 890,000 viewers with a Canadian-themed episode) and this year’s biggest U.S. comedy hit, 2 Broke Girls (1,039,000). Seed takes comedy gold to the bank

From Brad Oswald of the Winnipeg Free Press:

  • You can take comedy gold to the bank
YOU know how it is with banks these days — you keep making deposits, but the rate of return is so low that you feel like you’re not producing any positive results. Harry doesn’t have that problem. Of course, that might have something to do with the kind of banking Harry does. Read more.
