Package Deal to shuffle timeslots

City moves ‘Package Deal’ to new night
The switcheroos begin Monday, Oct. 14 when Package Deal and 2 Broke Girls swap timeslots on City, bumping Package Deal to 9 p.m. ET. That pits the Canadian comedy right up against repeats of No. 1 sitcom The Big Bang Theory on CBS for three weeks, until Mike & Molly bows on Nov. 4 on both City and CBS. When that happens, Package Deal is coming off Monday nights and sliding over to Thursdays, beginning Nov. 7, at 9:30 p.m. ET. Continue reading.

Can Canada afford to make brilliant television?

Even when our cable or specialty channels invest in Canadian content, the result is “deflating and inadequate,” he finds. Hard to argue with that, although I’d say Slings & Arrows was a brilliant Canadian specialty show, and Less Than Kind punched above its weight. These shows, however, rarely earn their keep in Canada. If CBC managed its appropriation right, it could indulge in a loss leader or two to distinguish its brand. A Haddock hour, drawing 300,000 a week, would give a CBC schedule a golden sheen you could not find on the private channels. Continue reading.

Echoes is set in the year 2021 and follows the journey of Sonya, a young woman trying to survive after two warring extra-terrestrial species bring their intergalactic battle to Earth.
