Home makeover hits light up HGTV Canada’s fall programming slate

HGTV Canada is hammering into fall with a full slate of fan-favourite programming and brand-new Canadian original series, highlighting the connections people have with the places they call home. This fall, HGTV Canada continues to showcase the ups and downs of jaw-dropping transformations, off-the-grid renovations, and intense property pursuits with beloved design, reno and real estate experts guiding homeowners along the way. Aligned with the start of its entertaining fall schedule, HGTV Canada will be available on a national free preview for the month of September.

Anchoring the fall slate is HGTV Canada’s new original series Worst to First, starting Monday, September 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Meet contractors Mickey Fabbiano and Sebastian Sevallo – best friends and family members who help 10 Vancouver families transform the most undesirable homes on the block into the envy of the neighbourhood. These shabby homes come with their challenges, but the handy duo is up for the task, turning each family’s dream into a reality in one of the hottest real estate markets in the world.

HGTV Canada’s fall lineup is filled with new and familiar faces as Canada’s beloved twins, Drew and Jonathan Scott, return with brand-new episodes of Property Brothers: Buying and Selling starting Monday, August 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Then, on Wednesday, August 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the network gives audiences a taste of small-town charm with Home Town, as creative couple and Mississippi locals, Ben and Erin Napier help their community refurbish their homes, ensuring their small town’s future is as bright as its past. Plus, as previously announced, fan-favourite Sarah Richardson returns with her new Canadian original series Sarah Off The Grid and Mike Holmes’ launches his new series Holmes: Buy It Right on Sunday, September 10.

Fans will flip this fall as the Flip or Flop franchise expands in a big way. First, veteran series, Flip or Flop, returns for a new season starting Wednesday, August 30 at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, then on September 27 at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, meet family business owners, Ken and Anita Corsini, as they revitalize metro Atlanta neighbourhoods in the new series Flip or Flop Atlanta. Texas-sized flips will join the network’s schedule later this season with the premiere of Flip or Flop Fort Worth.

October brings returning seasons of makeover mavens, starting with mother-daughter duo, Mina and Karen, in Season 2 of Good Bones on Monday, October 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Restoration specialist, Nicole Curtis, is also back for a new season of rescuing run-down rejects in Rehab Addict, premiering Sunday, October 22 at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Stay tuned for remarkable reveals later this fall with the Scott brothers’ most personal project to date, Property Brothers at Home: Drew’s Honeymoon House, and a new season of Fixer Upper starring Chip and Joanna Gaines.

Masters of Flip, Love It or List It Vancouver, Property Brothers, Leave It To Bryan and Timber Kings Return Beginning March 1

This spring, HGTV Canada delivers a standout schedule of returning Canadian original series featuring fan-favourite personalities. Beginning March 1, new seasons of hits Masters of Flip, Love It Or List It Vancouver, Property Brothers, Leave It To Bryan and Timber Kings return with all new renos, demos and designs.

Dilemmas abound when two Canadian powerhouse duos return with higher stakes, bigger transformations and even bigger drama. Kortney and Dave Wilson kick off the schedule on Wednesday, March 1 at 10 p.m. E/PT with new episodes of Masters of Flip where they transform old, rundown homes in Nashville and sell them for profit. A new, hour-long special “The Look Back” premieres March 29 and sees Kortney and Dave revisit their favourite designs, disasters and dilemmas. Dynamic duo Jillian Harris and Todd Talbot face their own dilemmas when they battle it out for homeowners’ allegiance to loving or listing their home. It’s up to interior designer Jillian to deliver a show-stopping renovation while Todd hunts for a dream home in new episodes of Love It Or List It Vancouver returning Monday, April 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. In the 100th episode airing on June 19, Jillian’s baby Leo makes his first small screen appearance along with Todd’s two children to mark the milestone with family.

The master builders of Pioneer Log Homes in Williams Lake, B.C. stop at nothing to get the job done under tight deadlines and intense pressure to build massive, multi-million dollar homes. The fourth season of Timber Kings carves out a home on the schedule Sundays beginning March 5 with a two-episode premiere at 9 p.m. ET/PT and subsequent episodes airing at 10 p.m. ET/PT. This season, the team constructs everything from a 50-foot log teepee to a breathtaking 20,000-square-foot log mansion in locations spanning from Vancouver Island to Germany. Fans can also watch exclusive, behind the scenes videos and home tours of the cast and crew’s homes on HGTV.ca.

Beginning March 6, Monday nights are a must-see with reno and real estate heavyweights Jonathan and Drew Scott and veteran contractor Bryan Baeumler returning with new episodes navigating challenging renovations and delivering stunning reveals. In new episodes of Property Brothers, Jonathan and Drew Scott help couples find, buy, and transform fixer-uppers into incredible dream homes. Season seven of long-standing hit Leave It To Bryan sees Bryan give homeowners a reality check when they hand over their keys and cash, leaving the decision-making in Bryan’s hands. As an added bonus, a new digital short series, Ask Bryan, will be available on HGTV.ca where Bryan answers renovation questions and provides tips and tricks, bringing fans closer to the pro himself. New episodes of Property Brothers and Leave It To Bryan premiere back-to-back on Mondays beginning March 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Property Brothers gamble it all on own At Home reno

Jonathan and Drew Scott have built themselves a nice little empire. They’ve got their TV series in Property Brothers and Buying & Selling with the Property Brothers, both of which air on W Network. They’ve got a production company that includes third sibling, J.D., on the docket. Heck, they’ve even got a Caribbean design cruise that fans can go on later this year.

Now Jonathan and Drew embark on their newest—and perhaps most important—project this week with Property Brothers at Home. Debuting Tuesday on W Network, the series follows the duo (with some help with J.D.) as they transform the spacious home they co-own in Las Vegas into something special in time for a family reunion.

“We wanted this show to be something different,” Jonathan says. “The most important parts of our shows are those brotherly moments when we give each other a hard time. Who can’t relate to that with a sibling or a friend?”

“When Property Brothers was first pitched to us, they wanted a male-female host combo. They thought Jonathan was very feminine, so it was perfect,” Drew teases, proving the point. There are plenty of friendly jabs in Tuesday’s bow, from Jonathan mocking Drew’s frustration at the cluttered garage, to Drew teasing Jonathan for his lack of a love life, and J.D. and Drew messing around with swords while Jonathan is being fitted for a suit of armour. (Yes, you read that right. The reason why is revealed by episode end.) Jonathan marvels that any work gets done because they’re constantly laughing and having a good time.

Tuesday’s first instalment in the four-parter quickly sets the scene: Jonathan and Drew bought a huge home in Las Vegas years ago, but because of their busy lives had never gotten around to renovating it. The two decided that 2014 would be the year they’d finally get the job done. And, after a year and a half of getting all of the necessary permits approved, they broke ground on the project. It was anything but smooth sailing. Sure, some overhead bulkheads were easily dismantled because there were no support beams hidden that needed to be saved, but a cut wire deep in the home’s foundation threatened to derail the whole thing.

“We both said that, no matter what happened, we had to keep the cameras rolling,” Jonathan explains. “No matter if it was during a fight or a problem with the build, we weren’t going to cut the cameras. There were a few moments when we were caught off-guard.”

“Jonathan has some diva moments,” Drew offers with a laugh.
