Comments and queries for the week of February 10

Why, oh why, is the History Channel constantly showing repeats of Canadian Pickers, especially during the day? So annoying. —Christina

While Pure started off really REALLY hokey (Ep. 1 and 2), it has now settled into a super show with great cliffhangers (so far Ep 3 and 5 have knocked it out of the park with fantastic writing and cliffhangers). With one more episode to go, I now can’t wait to see how this ends. I’m not sure how they will end it, (and by the time I am writing this, it’s already finalized how it ends). However, I hope that it has such a great cliffhanger that it lends itself to a second season (if CBC runs with it again). The potential of further material to do more seasons on this premise is huge—as I’ve researched some of this stuff in the past—and I can see more future in this show.

When I first heard about this production in 2016, I was so curious how this show would go, and I have now been totally blown away by the cast, directing, writing and creativity.

The housewives juggle many responsibilities including families, growing empires, multiple homes and jam-packed social calendars. Throughout the series, cameras follow them at home in Toronto, north to Ontario’s playground for the rich and famous, Muskoka, and across the ocean to Barcelona, Spain. The housewives live large in every sense; dining at Toronto’s top restaurants, attending lavish soirées, travelling first class to luxurious destinations, and shopping for the very best designer clothes, shoes and jewelry. But not all that glitters is gold as the women deal with the highs and lows of living large in the big city.

The Real Housewives of Toronto is the latest series to join The Real Housewives franchise, which includes Orange County, New York City, Atlanta, New Jersey, Beverly Hills, Dallas, Potomac and international additions from England, Australia, New Zealand and Vancouver.

Showcase announces second season for fall’s No. 1 new series Travelers

Showcase announced today that Travelers, the #1 new Fall series*, will return for a second season with production beginning this March in Vancouver. Produced by Peacock Alley Entertainment Inc., in association with Showcase and Netflix, Season 2 of the time-travelling sci-fi drama will air exclusively on Showcase in Canada in Fall 2017. Series Writer and Creator Brad Wright returns, along with series leads Eric McCormack, Jared Abrahamson, Nesta Cooper, Reilly Dolman, Patrick Gilmore, and MacKenzie Porter.

Season 1 of Travelers followed a group of people from the future who have discovered how to send consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century. These “travelers” assumed the lives of seemingly random people, while secretly working as teams to perform high-stakes missions in order to save the world from a terrible future. Starring Eric McCormack as FBI Special Agent Grant MacLaren, MacKenzie Porter as Marcy, Patrick Gilmore as David,  Jared Paul Abrahamson as Trevor, Nesta Cooper as Carly, and Reilly Dolman as Philip, Season 2 of Travelers picks up on the group’s haunting realization that their missions may have altered the future in ways they did not predict.
