CITYTV & OMNI TELEVISION ORIGINAL SERIES (PREMIERING ON SUNDAY, JUNE 11):

Premiering on OMNI Television this Sunday, June 11 are two new original series, including the comedy Our Big Punjabi Family and five-part documentary series Katiba Banat: Sisters in Arms, plus an all-new season of Filipino sketch comedy ABROAD.

Starting at 7:30 p.m. ET is Our Big Punjabi Family, a mixed Punjabi and English-language comedy series about a family therapist Sitara (played by Arshdeep Purba) and her family who are forced to move in with her husband’s traditional Punjabi in-laws after they lose their money in a bad investment. Following Our Big Punjabi Family is a new season of ABROAD. Produced in collaboration with Longhope Media Inc., Season 2 of ABROAD – the hit Filipino sketch comedy series – will premiere with eight, all-new 30-minute episodes in English and Tagalog at 8:30 p.m. ET. Co-created by and starring Filipina comedian Isabel Kanaan (Second Jen, Air Farce NYE, This Hour Has 22 Minutes), ABROAD is a Canadian Screen Award-nominated series based on the immigrant experience in Canada. Then, at 9:30 p.m. ET, the premiere of Adhel Arop’s Katiba Banat: Sisters in Arms – a five-part docuseries that uncovers the previously hidden stories of Canadian women who helped to liberate South Sudan.

As announced on Monday, Citytv has greenlit the all-new, one-hour crime drama Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, an adaptation of the legendary Law & Order brand, slated to air on Citytv in Spring 2024.

And, as announced earlier this year, Citytv has greenlit an all-new season of Canada’s Got Talent – Citytv’s most-viewed original series in over a decade – in partnership with McGillivray Entertainment Media Inc., Fremantle, and SYCO Entertainment. New for next season, the winner of Canada’s Got Talent Season 3 will receive $1,000,000 – the biggest cash prize in Canadian television history – courtesy of Rogers. That’s not all! CIBC is awarding each of the six Golden Buzzer recipients next season with $25,000 each, totalling $150,000, to help realize their ambitions. Canada’s Got Talent, Citytv’s most-viewed original series in over a decade, gears up for an all-new season, airing and streaming exclusively on Citytv, Citytv.com, and Citytv+ next Spring. Ahead of tonight’s highly-anticipated finale of America’s Got Talent on Citytv, the network announces the return of #CGT’s star-studded judges’ panel – Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Kardinal Offishall, and Trish Stratus – alongside host Lindsay Ell, which begins production next month in Niagara Falls.

Canada’s Got Talent Season 2, produced in partnership with Fremantle, SYCO Entertainment, and McGillivray Entertainment Media Inc., will film at the brand new OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino. This season will broadcast nine episodes, featuring six audition shows, two semifinals, and a spectacular live two-hour finale. As one of America’s Got Talent’s star judges with 13 seasons under his belt, Howie Mandel returns to the Canadian judging panel with his infectious energy, warmth, humour, and a keen eye for astonishing talent.

Lilly Singh brings hype, creativity and heart back to the judges’ panel with wisdom and advice for Canada’s bright new talents inspired by her own journey to self-made success in the entertainment industry.

With his larger-than-life personality and exceptional ability to seek out Canada’s new wave of superstars, Kardinal Offishall is sure to bring a whole lot more of “YESSIR!” to the judges’ panel in Season 2.

Rounding out the jury is wrestling legend and hall-of-famer Trish Stratus. Trish returns with the hope of dropping that elbow on the Golden Buzzer after being left STRATUSFIED.

Lindsay Ell, a GOLD-certified, three-time CCMA winner and Juno Award nominee, returns as host for Season 2. After selecting Season 1 Champion Jeanick Fournier as her Golden Buzzer, Ell released her fastest chart-climbing single to date, “Right On Time.”

Fournier won $150,000, courtesy of CIBC, to help realize her ambitions, and the opportunity to perform in the “America’s Got Talent Las Vegas LIVE” stage show at the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Bringing his infectious energy, warmth, humour, and a keen eye for astonishing talent, Howie Mandel is one of America’s Got Talent’s star judges with 11 seasons under his belt. He also hosts the weekly podcast Howie Mandel Does Stuff with his daughter Jackelyn Schultz.

Hailing from Scarborough, ON, entertainer, actress, writer and creator Lilly Singh brings passion, creativity, humour, and heart to the judge’s table where she will offer perspective from her own successful self-made journey in the entertainment industry to Canada’s bright new talents.

Award-winning artist, music label executive and producer Kardinal Offishall (affectionately known as Kardi) is a creative force and highly-respected leader in Canada’s music scene, who brings his larger-than-life personality and exceptional ability to seek out Canada’s new wave of superstars.
