Alakazam! YTV conjures up magical mind-bending pranks in new original series Tricked

YTV is making magic this fall with the debut of the new Canadian original series, Tricked (20 x 30). Produced for YTV by Force Four Entertainment, and hosted by veteran magician Eric Leclerc, Tricked baffles unsuspecting people with magic, sleight-of-hand, and super sneaky pranks. The series premieres on Monday, September 5 at 7:30 pm ET/PT and will air Monday to Thursday on YTV.

In each episode of Tricked, Eric goes undercover to pull well-crafted pranks on unsuspecting people, all caught on tape by hidden cameras. Well-known from his popular YouTube videos, which have garnered more than 10 million views worldwide, Eric performs illusions, misdirection and mind-reading tricks that will leave viewers in awe and disbelief day after day.

More magical content will be uploaded on YTV.com and YTVGo featuring tricks of the trade and tutorials on how to prank family and friends with magic that can be done at home. Also available online are videos revealing secrets from Tricked’s “Magic Camp,” where Eric and the magic team taught kids tricks using household items, which they then performed on camera.

Tricked is based on the highly successful ITV Studios UK show, of the same name. The YTV series results from a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment, the international distributor of the format. It has been adapted by Force Four for Corus Entertainment’s YTV.

DHX Television brings the heat to fall with hottest programming lineup to date

This fall, DHX Television has the perfect cure for the end of summer blues: a sizzling hot lineup the entire family will enjoy. After a whirlwind mid-season finale which saw Carly take her best friend Vanessa’s place in the show and Alya leave school to chase stardom, nothing is like what it was before the break. With missing faces in the halls, new musical partnerships forming and dancers changing positions, all of Keaton’s students are searching for answers while trying to adjust.

The Next Step – New Episodes Return – Friday, October 14 at 7 p.m.
With Regionals just around the corner, the pressure is on for A-Troupe who are determined to defend their title as Regional Champions. But tensions run high in The Next Step studio as Piper struggles with the fact that she saw Alfie and Riley kiss, and the dancers wonder how they’ll even qualify after Noah’s departure from the team. The new episodes will also feature a guest starring role by the winner of the UK’s reality competition series Taking The Next Step, which currently airs Fridays at 7 p.m.

Shay finds out if her relationship with Tiny is “Lola approved,” while Winston continues to second-guess his relationship with Zoe – forcing her to make an important personal decision. Meanwhile, Hunter worries that he is an angry monster who will never deserve Yael, or any relationship for that matter.

DHX Media and Amazon Prime strike U.S. exclusive on new animated kids’ series, Looped

DHX Media (or the “Company”) (NASDAQ: DHXM; TSX: DHX.A, DHX.B), the world’s leading independent, pure-play kids’ content company, has licensed season one of its new animated comedy series Looped, exclusively for Amazon Prime members in the U.S to stream or download via the Amazon Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV, mobile devices and online at www.amazon.com/primevideo. This original kids’ series will debut on Prime Video in the U.S. on July 25.

In addition, DHX Media will add five seasons of the classic children’s series The Busy World of Richard Scarry, the first season of the much-loved Madeline series, and the feature special Madeline Sing Along with her Friends, to the U.S. Prime Video catalogue, bringing more popular kids content to the catalogue for Prime members to enjoy.

Produced at DHX Studios and commissioned by TELETOON in Canada, the 2D-animated Looped is filled with the kind of silly and hilarious fun that kids 6-11 love. Looped is created by Todd Kauffman and Mark Thornton of Neptoon Studios, award-winning veterans in the animation industry. (The pair created and directed Grojband. Kauffman also previously co-created Sidekick.)

Gisèle in Ottawa?

I was just wondering if by any chance that TVOKids’ Gisèle will be visiting my town of Ottawa this summer? Please let me know; my two girls are big fans. —Pauze

Unfortunately, Gisèle Corinthios, host of Gisèle’s Big Backyard, was one of those affected by cuts at TVO back in April. TVO confirmed she is no longer with the company.

Hello! I just read the news about Gisèle. I have a nine-month old boy who is very much developed in every aspect. Each time he is in his chair having his meal and tea he is also enjoying the kids program. But there is one time when everything stops, and that is when Gisèle is on: he stops eating and a big, bright smile stays on his face until the next show begins. —Florentina

HGTV Canada greenlights two new original series

I used to watch HGTV quite a bit but something that annoyed me was that a few of their shows, such as Property Virgins and House Hunters, featured Canadian locales then switched over to principally American locales and the Canadian versions of those shows eventually disappeared. Also, the channel’s reno shows stayed Southern Ontario-centric. I would have liked to see more Western projects. My husband really enjoys Timber Kings, but that’s about all we watch on HGTV now. I like the show Love It or List It though, especially the Vancouver one but that’s on W Network. I will have to check out the Backyard Builds show, though, because I was a counsellor at a summer camp with Sarah Keenleyside many years ago. —Alicia
