Big Brother Canada launches Season 4 casting tour

From a media release:

Following three explosive seasons, Big Brother Canada is kicking off the national casting tour for its fourth season airing on Global early in 2016. Canadians 19 years of age and older can apply online at BigBrotherCanada.ca beginning today, and in person this Fall at open casting calls across Canada. The online submission deadline is October 19, 2015.

Set to embark on its fourth nation-wide casting tour, Big Brother Canada is travelling from coast to coast, looking for the most eclectic group of Canadians to star in the new season of the hit reality series. In addition to an online application process, Producers will host open casting calls in Vancouver (September 19), Calgary (September 26), Edmonton (September 26), Winnipeg (October 3), Toronto (October 24), Montréal (September 19), Halifax (September 26), and St. John’s (October 3).

Those interested in applying can either apply online at BigBrotherCanada.ca with a short video about why they would make the perfect houseguest, or in person at open casting calls throughout September and October. Applicants must be 19 years of age by February 1, 2016. Additional information about the casting calls in select cities will be released in the coming weeks.

Airing exclusively on Global early in 2016, Big Brother Canada plucks a group of hand-picked strangers from their homes, sequesters them from the outside world, and places them inside a house outfitted wall-to-wall with cameras and microphones that capture their every move. Competing for a grand cash prize, each week the houseguests battle in a series of challenges that give them power or punishment, voting each other out until the fate of the final two is decided by a jury of fellow houseguests.

Link: Sudbury to star as itself in new TV comedy

From Jim Moodie of The Sudbury Star:

Sudbury to star as itself in new TV comedy
“It really is Sudbury,” said Smith. “So, even in the script, it’s not written as if it was New York or Toronto. Andrew, the writer, really likes Sudbury, and he wanted it to have a huge focus and sort of highlight what the city has to offer. So they will be shooting at a number of recognizable places in Sudbury.” Continue reading.

Link: Where Are The Canadian TV Talk Shows?

From Jim Bawden:

Where Are The Canadian TV Talk Shows?
“The only successful Canadian talk show when I was at CBC was Peter Gzowski. And he was continually trounced by the critics. But you know the longer he was on the better he got. Finally near the end he said what-the-hell and came out as battered and rumpled as he’d always been on radio. And that really worked. Later, Comedy had Mike Bullard and the budget was so low he didn’t have a cordless mike so he couldn’t walk into the audience.” Continue reading.

Steven and Chris star passes away

Chris Hyndman, one half of CBC’s long-running lifestyle show Steven and Chris, has passed away at the age of 49.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died early this morning. Chris was the co-host of CBC’s lifestyle show, Steven and Chris,” Chuck Thompson, head of CBC pubic affairs said in a statement. “We extend our deepest sympathies to Steven, family, friends, colleagues and his many fans at this most difficult time; our thoughts are with them all.” Episodes of Steven and Chris have been pulled from CBC’s schedule.

Police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Hyndman’s body was found late Monday night in an alleyway near the home he shared with Sabados; there is an ongoing police investigation.

A native of Newfoundland, Hyndman teamed with Steven Sabados over 15 years ago to form The Sabados Group Inc.; the group specializes in event planning, product launches and set design.

On Steven and Chris, the couple—along with expert guests—offered a unique take on decor, beauty, health care, relationships, food and parenting. CBC’s media site notes Steven and Chris airs in more than 40 million households in the United States. Sabados and Hyndman starred in HGTV’s Designer Guys, Design Rivals and So Chic with Steven and Chris.
