Later, host Ray Zahab’s adventure challenge takes everyone to Monterrico to get a taste of life on the coast, including fishing in the Mangroves and climbing for coconuts. Back at Project Somos, the girls’ inappropriate behaviour lands them in hot water. Plus, catch the half-hour digital after show The Project Live online at OLN.ca/theproject following the show. Drew, Kalin, Nikki, and Tianna join co-hosts Rachel David (Rogers Your World This Week) and Adam Wylde (KiSS 92.5) to chat about what happened on The Project: Guatemala this week.

Russians iced from Battle of the Blades

OKSANA KAZAKOVA AND VLADIMIR MALAKHOV BATTLE OF THE BLADES OCT 13

From a media release:

RUSSIAN GOLD MEDALLISTS OKSANA KAZAKOVA AND VLADIMIR MALAKHOV ARE THE NEXT PAIR TO BE “ICED” ON SEASON FOUR OF BATTLE OF THE BLADES

The Season Four campaign came to an end for another pair of skaters in Sunday night’s “International Beats” themed episode of CBC’s BATTLE OF THE BLADES. At the top of the program, Marie-France Dubrueil & Mathieu Dandenault joined Oksana Kazakova & Vladimir Malakhov in front of Kurt Browning and fellow judges P.J. Stock and Jamie Salé, with the unpleasant possibility of being Iced. Winning the first Skate Off of Season Four kept Oksana and Vladimir alive last week, but when the verdict was delivered, they were the second pair Iced from the competition series.

Oksana, who is the 1998 Olympic Pairs Gold Medallist and her partner Vladimir, a member of the rare and coveted Triple Gold Club, with an Olympic Gold medal, World Championship and Stanley Cup to his credit, were the most decorated pair entering Season Four.

With the judges’ most difficult decision to date, the verdict to send Oksana and Vladimir home also sends their mutual charity, iOrphan Canada, a cheque for $25,000.

New for Season Four, performances and eliminations are combined into an action-packed hour of television. The two pairs who receive the fewest votes for their performance, in combination with the lowest judges’ scores, enter a “Skate Off” in the following week’s episode and their fate is in the judges’ hands. The judges have one opportunity to save a pair from being Iced, which they opted not to use in tonight’s second elimination. Voting for tonight’s performance for the remaining six pairs will remain open on www.cbc.ca/battle until Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. ET.

Also new for Season Four, BATTLE OF THE BLADES fans will have the opportunity to earn extra votes and participate in the show like never before, with special games and challenges for supporters to help their pairs get closer to the ultimate $100,000 prize for charity. Next Sunday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) is “Canadian Week”, with the remaining six pairs skating to the songs that earned top votes in Fan Choice Week, as chosen by fans online.

The remaining six pairs are:

  • Violetta Afanasieva & Jason Strudwick
  • Shae-Lynn Bourne & Anson Carter
  • Jessica Dubé & Brian Savage
  • Marie-France Dubreuil & Mathieu Dandenault
  • Amanda Evora & Scott Thornton
  • Sinead Kerr & Grant Marshall

Heartland, CBC – “Living the Moment”
Amy and Ty find the ranch of their dreams, while Peter attempts to mediate when Georgie and Olivia come to blows.

Battle of the Blades, CBC – Performance 3 – Theme: International Beat
The theme is International Beat and seven pairs will compete with new routines set to contemporary and classic international hits, with a focus on rhythm and footwork. The bottom two pairs facing elimination will be announced live and will compete in a head-to-head Skate-Off to complete the hour.

Meet the Family, City – “Devil Dad”
Mike and Marissa are taking their relationship to the next level: meeting the family. What Mike doesn’t know is that Marisa’s family is played by actors determined to give him a hard time. Mom’s an extreme cheapskate, serving food from a dumpster, sister Hannah needs help with some “acting exercises,” and brother Jason is all right – but his puppet is a real jerk. Most frightening of all, Dad lets Mike in on his devilish secret.

From a media release:

Michiel Huisman, Peter Outerbridge, and Ari Millen Join Cast of Hit Space Original Series, ORPHAN BLACK

  • From Temple Street Productions, ORPHAN BLACK is produced in partnership with Space and BBC America, with Season 2 set to premiere in April 2014

Bell Media’s Space, BBC America, and Temple Street Productions announced earlier today that Michiel Huisman (World War Z, TREME, NASHVILLE), Peter Outerbridge (NIKITA, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, REGENESIS) and Ari Millen (Monster Brawl) have joined the recurring cast of the critically-acclaimed conspiracy clone thriller ORPHAN BLACK. Season 2 of the 10-episode, one-hour drama is currently in production and is scheduled to premiere on Space in April 2014.

In Season 2 of ORPHAN BLACK, Michiel Huisman takes on the role of Cal Morrison, a rugged, resourceful outdoorsman. He’s adaptive and creative with a sixth sense about people and situations. These venerable human traits will come in handy as crossing paths with clones is fraught with surprise, danger, and surprising revelations.

Peter Outerbridge is Henrik “Hank” Johanssen, a modern day cowboy. He leads a flock of followers that has broken away from the Old World “Prolethean” brotherhood. Under his messianic vision, the age-old divide between science and religion has merged into a new fresh threat to the clones.

Ari Millen is cast as Mark, a cunning predator with a dark edge. Mark is utterly devoted to Johanssen, who took him in and built him into a True Believer. Now, guided by twisted morality and desperate faith, he’s a relentless and dogged pursuer of the clones.

Season 2 hits the ground running with Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) in a desperate race to find her missing daughter. Her scorched earth tactics spark a war with Rachel (Maslany), dividing and imperiling all the clones. As Sarah gets closer to her own origin story, several mysterious newcomers appear, but nobody can be trusted.

ORPHAN BLACK stars Critics’ Choice Award winner Tatiana Maslany (Picture Day, PARKS AND RECREATION), who to date has portrayed seven different characters (Sarah, Beth, Katja, Alison, Cosima, Helena, and Rachel). Rounding out the cast is Jordan Gavaris (UNNATURAL HISTORY) as Felix, Sarah’s foster brother; Gemini Award-winner Maria Doyle Kennedy (DOWNTON ABBEY) as Mrs. S, Sarah and Felix’s hard-nosed working class foster mother; Dylan Bruce (NCIS) as Paul, Beth’s boyfriend with a secret linked to his army days in Afghanistan; Kevin Hanchard (REPUBLIC OF DOYLE) as Art, a veteran detective; Michael Mando (THE KILLING) as Vic, Sarah’s sporadically violent ex; and Skyler Wexler (ALPHAS) as Kira, Sarah’s seven-year-old daughter.
