From creator and star Jasmeet Raina, Season 2 of hit Crave original series Late Bloomer springs back on April 11

Crave confirmed today that its critically-acclaimed original comedy series LATE BLOOMER returns for an eight-episode, second season beginning Friday, April 11, with two episodes. Produced by Pier 21 Films in association with Bell Media, the new season continues to follow millennial content creator Jasmeet Dutta (Raina) as he tries to balance his ambitions for success with his commitment to his family, community, and culture. LATE BLOOMER follows a weekly release schedule with two new episodes dropping on subsequent Fridays.

LATE BLOOMER connected with Crave audiences when it originally premiered in January 2024, ranking in the Top 10 for Canadian comedy series premieres on the streamer to date*.

Returning cast alongside Raina include Seher Khot, Baljinder Singh Atwal (DES PARDES), Sandeep Bali, Ashley Ganger (GRAND ARMY), Sugenja Sri (THE HANDMAID’S TALE), Ahamed Weinberg (INSECURE), Sachin Mahashi, and Sukhman Gill.

LATE BLOOMER is a half-hour comedy series following Jasmeet Dutta (Jasmeet Raina), a turban-wearing millennial struggling to find his place in life while balancing Eastern roots with Western ideals. Like many his age, Jasmeet feels behind in life compared to his peers, and his shared housing situation and financial status aren’t helping. Jasmeet’s video blog— sharing his journey— leads him to connect with a growing audience, but his commitment to his career often makes it harder to maintain his bond to family, relationships and culture.

LATE BLOOMER is produced by Pier 21 Films in association with Bell Media and with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the Bell Fund, and tax credit assistance from of the Government of Ontario, and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, and is distributed internationally by Bell Media for season two. Indigenous coming-of-age comedy Don’t Even debuts August 23 on Crave

A funny, relatable, and heartwarming take on friendship, growing up, and the complexities of life in Winnipeg, the new Crave and APTN Original series DON’T EVEN premieres on Friday, August 23 on Crave, followed by a premiere on APTN later this year. The series premieres with two episodes on August 23, with two new episodes dropping on subsequent Fridays.

Starring Leenah Robinson (1923), Victoria Turko (Burden of Truth), Joel Oulette (Trickster), Gail Maurice, and Jennifer Podemski (Showrunner and Creator, LITTLE BIRD), the series follows two best friends in late ‘90s Winnipeg as they grapple with their uncertain futures in the summer after their final high school year.

Following a hilariously humiliating mishap at her high school grad, Violet (Robinson) wants to make the most of the last summer before moving away for university, as Harley (Turko) distracts herself from a big dilemma of what’s next. As the lifelong friends bask in newfound freedom, and face adult life choices, cracks begin to form in their once impenetrable bond. It’s awkward. It’s dramatic. It’s friggin’ Winnipeg.

From Canadian comedy phenom Jasmeet Raina, the all-new Crave original series Late Bloomer debuts January 19

Comedian, storyteller, and content creator Jasmeet Raina makes his anticipated return to the screen with the debut of Crave’s new eight-part original comedy series LATE BLOOMER, premiering Friday, Jan. 19. Created by and starring Raina, LATE BLOOMER follows burgeoning content creator Jasmeet Dutta (Raina) as he tries to balance his ambitions for success with his commitment to his family, community, and culture.

Raina is joined onscreen by an eclectic ensemble cast including newcomers Baljinder Singh Atwal (DES PARDES) and Sandeep Bali as Jasmeet’s parents, Gurdeep and Supinder; alongside Ashley Ganger (GRAND ARMY) as Jasmeet’s sister, Maanvi; Sugenja Sri (THE HANDMAID’S TALE) and Sachin Mahashi as friends, Chippy and Sunny; and Ahamed Weinberg (INSECURE) as cousin Neal.

In the series debut, “NUDES,” Jasmeet’s laptop goes missing, along with his ‘tasteful’ nude self-portraits, and he needs it back before the photos leak and cause chaos. Next up, in “HOW TO BE VIRAL,” Jasmeet tries to network his way into levelling up his career, but a sale on milk stands in his way.

These first two episodes will hit Crave on Friday, Jan.19, followed by two new episodes dropping on subsequent Fridays.

Under the moniker Jus Reign, Raina reached global audiences across social media, including YouTube, and was one of Much Digital Studios’ first content creators in 2015. Raina became known for his deadpan comedic style and commentary on race and pop culture and is part of a group of storytellers who charted the way for increased South Asian representation in mainstream western media.

Production underway on Season 3 of CBC original hit comedy Run the Burbs

CBC and Pier 21 Films today announced that production is underway around Toronto, Hamilton and Barrie, ON on the third season of the popular original comedy series RUN THE BURBS (13×30). Created by Andrew Phung and Scott Townend, RUN THE BURBS stars an exciting ensemble of Canadian comedic talent lead by Andrew Phung as Andrew Pham, Rakhee Morzaria as Camille Pham – both of whom were recognized for their work on the show with Best Lead Performer, Comedy nominations at this year’s Canadian Screen Awards – and Zoriah Wong, and Roman Pesino as Khia and Leo Pham, respectively. Series regulars include Ali Hassan (CBC’s Laugh Out Loud), Julie Nolke (Explaining the Pandemic to my Past Self), Jonathan Langdon (Robyn Hood), Chris Locke (Workin’ Moms, Mr. D), Samantha Wan (Second Jen), and Gavin Crawford (Because News). The third season will premiere on CBC and CBC Gem in Winter 2024.

A playful comedy about life in the suburbs, oddball neighbours, and a loving family who always has each other’s backs, RUN THE BURBS season three will see the family expand their horizons and head on all-new adventures, bringing the signature Pham energy to everything they do. Often recognized for its nuanced and thoughtful representation of a bold Indian and Vietnamese family, the third season continues to highlight culturally specific stories, including what has become an annual series hallmark, a Vietnamese Lunar New Year – Tết – episode. Also for the third season in a row, the iconic rapper, DJ, and producer, Kardinal Offishall, returns to the ‘burbs to resume the guest-starring role that earned him a 2023 CSA nomination alongside the nods for Phung and Morzaria.

As previously announced, television veterans Jennica Harper and Nelu Handa have taken over showrunning duties this season. The duo previously collaborated on the series JANN, on which Harper served as showrunner. For Handa, season three is her third with the RUN THE BURBS writer’s room.

A CBC original series, RUN THE BURBS is produced by Pier 21 Films. Production underway on new Crave & APTN Indigenous-led original comedy series, Don’t Even

Crave and APTN, in association with Pier 21 Films, Frantic Films Manitoba, and Sekowan Media, announced today that production is underway in Winnipeg on the all-new dramatic comedy series, DON’T EVEN. Created by Amber-Sekowan Daniels, directed by Zoe Hopkins, and starring Leenah Robinson (1923), Victoria Turko (Burden of Truth), Joel Oulette (Trickster), Gail Maurice, and Jennifer Podemski, the six-part series is an urban Indigenous, coming-of-age story.
