New, half-hour Canadian comedy series puts Calgary centre stage, as production on Young Drunk Punk begins today, starring creator, writer, and executive producer Bruce McCulloch (Kids in the Hall). Young Drunk Punk takes viewers on a heartfelt and hilarious coming-of-age journey of two teenage boys living in raucous Calgary during the ‘80s. The show is slated to premiere early 2015 on City, with full broadcast details to be announced at a later date.
Inspired by McCulloch’s life, and told through his unique point-of-view, Young Drunk Punk focuses on two young men – Ian and Shinky – who have recently graduated from high school and don’t quite feel that they belong. The series follows them as they embark on a hilarious and rebellious search to find out who they are, somewhere in the lost years between high school and “what’s next.â€
Young Drunk Punk stars Tim Carlson (Gracepoint) as Ian McKay, Atticus Mitchell (Fargo) as Archibald Shinky, McCulloch (The Kids in the Hall) as Ian’s father Lloyd, Tracy Ryan (Nancy Drew) as Ian’s mother Helen, and Allie MacDonald (Lost Girl) as Ian’s sister Belinda.

The series is produced by Accent Entertainment and SEVEN24 Films. In Part 2 of the Season 3 premiere event entitled “Kiss Me Goodbyeâ€, airing Sept. 25 in the series’ regular Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot, with her body still in a coma, spirit form Alex (Erica Durance) shares an emotional journey with Charlie (Michael Shanks) in the spirit world as he ‘ghost-doctors’ a brain-dead mother-to-be. Meanwhile, Joel (Daniel Gillies) forms a tight bond with a lively drug addict while trying to treat his necrotic leg. Plus, Tim and one lucky bachelorette are treated to a private concert by none other than Canadian singer-songwriter Andrew Allen. A high intensity cocktail party and rose ceremony sees three ladies sent home without roses, leaving the remaining 12 to prepare for another exciting week ahead.
