Tara Spencer-Nairn returns as the deadpan police officer Karen Pelly in Corner Gas: Animated—airing Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on The Comedy Network—a role she played in the Gemini-winning, No. 1 rated CTV sitcom Corner Gas, earning a Gemini Award for Best Ensemble Performance in 2007 and two Gemini nominations in 2004 and 2006.

A graduate of the Vancouver Film School, her big breakthrough came in 1999 when she was cast in the highly acclaimed New Waterford Girl. The film screened at the Sundance Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival and received seven Genie Award nominations including Best Picture.

Spencer-Nairn appeared in the recurring role of Sandy in CTV’s hit drama The Listener. She has appeared in numerous other television productions including The Outer Limits, The Strain, Murdoch Mysteries, Waking Up Wally: The Walter Gretzky Story, Flashpoint Saving Hope and Degrassi. Most recently she could seen in the third season of Syfy/Space hit series Killjoys as a recurring guest star.

Spencer-Nairn was born in Montreal, raised in Vancouver and now calls Toronto home. The youngest of three siblings, the actor spent 12 years as a competitive gymnast. She is married and the mother of two young sons.

TV Eh B Cs podcast 80 — Getting the story from Gemma Holdway

Gemma Holdway is a British-Canadian writer. She has worked as a story editor on Syfy/Netflix’s Ghost Wars and Season 2 of CTV’s hit series Cardinal. Together with Cardinal showrunner Sarah Dodd, Gemma is currently developing a one-hour drama for Bell Media and Omnifilm Entertainment. She has previously developed series with Front Street Pictures, Reality Distortion Field and Riverside Entertainment.

Gemma also worked as a script/story coordinator on Ghost Wars, Gracepoint, Killjoys, Power Rangers, High Moon and Poor Richard’s Almanack. She was a 2016 recipient of the Corus Entertainment Writer’s Apprenticeship and is currently enrolled in the National Screen Institute’s Totally Television Program. Gemma’s TV pilots have been shortlisted by the Sundance Episodic Storytelling Lab. Four of her TV movies have been produced. Her shorts have premiered at Edmonton International Film Festival and Whistler Film Festival. She holds a bachelor of journalism and a minor in politics from Ryerson University. Gemma is represented by the Alpern Group.

Sean Buckley is an award-winning producer and the driving force behind Buck Productions, a leading content creation company successful in feature films, television, branded content, documentaries, and commercials. Currently, Buckley and his team at Buck Productions are producing four 10-part unscripted series for U.S. cable network powerhouse Reelz. The first two series, The Stalker Files and It Happened Here, have both premiered. He is also in post-production on the unique docs-series Merchants of the Wild.

Buckley’s diverse portfolio also includes branded content as he has overseen many first-to-market formats such as Two Minutes to Transform (HuffPost Canada Studios and AOL), The 2008 Mitsubishi City Chase (CBC), the web series Canada’s Best Beauty Talent for Rogers Media and L’Oreal Paris, hosted by Supermodel Coco Rocha, MTV’s McMorris and McMorris (Red Bull), Our Family Vacation (Canon) and The Project: Guatemala (Group M). In 2017, Sean collaborated with HuffPost Canada Studios and AOL on the web series Young Money and two seasons of the hit branded web series Like A Tourist.

In addition to his work with Buck Productions, Sean joined The Coup Company as a partner and collaborates with them on all projects including the hit horror comedies Wolfcop and Another Wolfcop as well as the CBC Comedy Coup’s inaugural production – HumanTown – which made its primetime debut in 2016.

Buckley and his team at Buck Productions have been the recipients of multiple Gemini, Genie, Canadian Screen Award, Director’s Guild of Canada nominations and a number of other film, television and commercial awards as well as numerous film premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival and many other acclaimed international festivals. Buck Productions has also been named to Realscreen’s Global 100 list of independent production companies.

TV Eh B Cs podcast 78 — The Amazing Grace Lynn Kung

A Canadian Screen Award nominee for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy, Grace Lynn Kung has won the Chancellor’s Trophy (OSSD), is a two-time Award for Acting recipient (York) and holds two Certificates of Distinction for Speech and Drama from Trinity College London.

This year she has incited violence aboard Star Trek: Discovery, lobbied Washington with Jessica Chastain in Miss Sloane, risen in ranks as Congresswoman Yoshida on Designated Survivor, met her demise in Cult of Chucky and cultivated Mars on The Expanse. She has aided Corey Stoll in Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain, scarcely kept it together on Slings and Arrows, fought Amanda Schull on 12 Monkeys, and played special agent JoJo Kwan on the spy series InSecurity.

Grace directed her first short film, A False Sense of Security, which premiered and won Special Jury Mention this summer in Dallas, Texas and has received a 2017 ACTRA Award nomination for her performance in the feature The Death and Life of Carl Naardlinger.
Grace has a Doozers character modelled in her likeness, studied naturopathic medicine in England and if you’ve played Ubisoft’s Far Cry 4, she’s yelled at you. She plays Whiskey Wendy in the 1920s detective series Frankie Drake Mysteries, Charlotte Bronte in the feature Carmilla, was the guest star on the season finale of Mr. D and plays Chairman Mao in HBO’s new adaptation of Fahrenheit 451, out this May, directed by Ramin Bahrani.

She is also looking for Independent Production Fund support for her web series What Got Did.

TV Eh B Cs podcast 77 — Elize Morgan vs. Alpaca vs. Llama

Elize Morgan is a writer of TV, games and digital series. She worked on Assassin’s Creed: Origins, was part of the Season 1 team for girls action animation series Mysticons, and is currently pitching for her co-created series Alpaca vs. Llama for the Independent Production Fund.

She created and produced two digital comedy series, Pretty In Geek and The Gate. She was also the editor of How to Make a Web Series (free on iBooks).

Elize wrote for the CSA-winning convergent project Grojband: The Show Must Go On and has been nominated for a WGC Award for her script “Heart of Gold” for the girls action series Mysticons.

Elize has worked on animated and live action properties for kids, including CBC’s Ollie: The Boy Who Became What He Ate, Rusty Rivets and Bagel & Becky. Elize has an MA in Popular Culture and is a graduate of the CFC’s Prime Time Television Writing Program.
