Preview: George Chuvalo delivers knockout punch in Private Eyes’ return

When we last left Shade and Angie, things had gotten a little weird with their personal relationship. As a matter of fact, Angie realized she had feelings for her partner and drove over to Shade’s house to tell him that. Unfortunately, just before she knocked on his front door, she spotted Mel and Shade getting intimate. Angie turned to Ken for solace.

After waiting close to a year for Private Eyes to return with new episodes on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Global, where are Shade and Angie? Solving crimes of course! Here’s what Global’s episode synopsis says regarding “Kissing the Canvas.”

After being hired by a boxer to prove a fight was fixed, Shade’s sucker-punched when he meets the boxer’s manager: none other than his ex-manager who made off with all of Shade’s money! Angie brings in her mother Nora as a gambling advisor to help crack the case, hopefully before their client gets the knockout of her life.

Who is back for the second half of Season 2?
Zoe (Samantha Wan) and Detective Mazhari (Ennis Esmer) return, along with Jules (Jordyn Negri), Don (Barry Flatman), Becca (Nicole DeBoer), Mel (Bree Williamson) and Dr. Ken (Mark Ghanimé).

George Chuvalo guest-stars in Sunday’s instalment
The five-time Canadian heavyweight boxing champ who took Muhammad Ali the distance twice in the ring appears as himself.

A former Call Me Fitz co-star stops by
Peter MacNeill, a.k.a. Ken Fitzpatrick, shows up to play Shade’s old manager Murray Clavin. And Shade isn’t happy to see him. Also appearing in guest roles this week are Conrad Coates and Tony Nappo. Workin’ Moms Mimi Kuzyk reprises her gig as Angie’s mom, Nora.

Zoe and Maz are back at it …
… and quickly threatening for cutest/most awkward couple on primetime TV.

Private Eyes airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Global.

All hail Queen Paras, winner of Big Brother Canada Season 6

In an epic battle of good versus evil, it all came down to the last two women standing in the Big Brother Canada Season 6 finale, as Paras Atashnak of Vancouver, BC, claimed the final prize. Following a season that saw 16 houseguests face the depths of hell and the peaks of paradise, social gamer Paras and comp beast Kaela Grant faced off on BBCAN judgement day, with Paras winning in a landslide vote of six to one.

As the winner of #BBCAN6, Paras sits on cloud nine with a grand prize of $100,000, a European dream vacation for two courtesy of Air Transat, and a $30,000 home furnishing makeover from The Brick.

On her big win, Paras said: “I can’t put it into words! I’ve been a fan of the Big Brother franchise since I was 11 years old. I’ve been watching this show [Big Brother Canada] for five years. I dreamt of it every single day, and to be standing here is such a dream come true. Thank you Big Brother Canada for giving me a chance.”

Finale Recap
In the first of three gruelling HOH competitions, Paras, Kaela and Derek faced off in a battle of strength and precision as they collected and stacked three sets of 20 coins on a revolving altar. After multiple failed attempts by each houseguest, Paras defeated comp beasts Daela to take the first win.

Then, in the next round, Derek and Kaela had the ultimate showmance showdown in a challenge where they had to build a staircase of blocks by matching photos of houseguests with clues about their respective games. Kaela edged out Derek with a faster time and sealed her place in the final HOH challenge.

In the last round, Paras and Kaela competed for the last HOH of the season and a spot in the final two. After a heart-pounding trivia challenge, Paras beat Kaela in a sudden death match taking the all-important HOH. With the win in hand, Paras evicted Derek, cementing the first all-female final two in BBCAN history.

As their game came to a close, Paras and Kaela made their heated pleas to the seven-person jury, answering questions about their game play, strategy and why they each deserved to win. Following passionate speeches from both, the jury voted six to one, crowing Paras the winner of Big Brother Canada.

New episodes of Global’s hit original series Private Eyes return Sunday, May 27

Canada’s favourite detective duo – Matt Shade(Jason Priestley) and Angie Everett (Cindy Sampson) – are back on the job with new cases and new faces as Private Eyes returns with all-new episodes on Global, beginning Sunday, May 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. From Entertainment One (eOne), Season 2 picks up with Shade (Priestley) and Angie (Sampson) settling into personal relationships with their respective partners Mel (Bree Williamson) and Dr. Ken (Mark Ghanimé), while focusing on expanding their ever-evolving partnership and taking on bigger and better cases. From morning shows and microbreweries, to medieval knights and a missing octopus, no case is too outrageous for the dynamic pair. But will their undeniable attraction to each other get in the way of their ability to solve crimes?

The first new episode takes place in the fast-paced world of female professional boxing as Shade and Angie try to avoid being sucker-punched. Shade is hired by a boxer to prove a fight was fixed, but is blind-sided when he meets the boxer’s manager: none other than his ex-manager who made off with all of Shade’s pro-hockey money! Meanwhile, Angie brings in her mother, Nora (Mimi Kuzyk), as a gambling expert (and reformed gambling addict) to help crack the case before their client gets the knockout of her life. The episode guest stars include Canadian sports legend George Chuvalo as himself, plus on-screen cameos by “Fearless” Fred Kennedy of 102.1 The Edge and Q107 morning show host Ryan Parker.

Additional guest stars this season include ET Canada host Cheryl Hickey, Peter MacNeill (Call Me Fitz), Colin Ferguson (Eureka), Laura Vandervoort (Bitten), and Lucas Bryant (Haven).

Along with the Season 2 return of the series, production for Private Eyes Season 3 is now underway in Toronto. With a 12-episode order, the new season is set to return to Global in 2019, and will feature Shade and Everett as they become more intertwined into the antic adventures, taking on Toronto’s most difficult and unusual cases. Familiar faces including Jules (Jordyn Negri), Don (Barry Flatman), Zoe (Samantha Wan), Detective Mazhari (Ennis Esmer), Detective Nolan (Cle Bennett), and Becca (Nicole DeBoer) all return to Season 3, along with new characters Inspector Carson (Linda Kash) and Officer Danica Powers (cast to be announced). Season 3 also welcomes an impressive roster of guest stars, including multi-platinum, award-winning singer-songwriter Jann Arden, who will make a special cameo appearance in the first episode.

Leading up to and throughout the remainder of Season 2, GlobalTV.com delivers viewers exclusive Private Eyes content, including behind-the-scenes videos featuring the series stars, executive producers, and creative team. Also, in anticipation of Private Eyes‘ summer return, GlobalTV.com offers viewers the chance to catch up on the entire series as Season 1 and the first half of Season 2 beginning May 13. Plus starting May 28, new episodes from Season 2 will also be available following the broadcast premiere on GlobalTV.com Global GO (available on Apple TV), and on demand.
